This still should be an option for us who hate having to do the swipe up. It is very annoying coming from the iPhone 8 where you just pressed the home button and you were at the Home Screen. Please make this an option.

This is funny, I have a note20 ultra and find this unlock feature very convenient. I just got the 12 pro max 2 days ago and been wondering how to turn this option on without jail breaking.

God help me, or the ghost of Jobs which ever comes first. I just bought a 12 Pro Max. The buy one get one deal for me and the wife. Read all the reviews for the 2020 greatest phones it topped the charts."Best IPhone ever,""a perfect phone"... But it's day 3 with this abomination and I miss my note 8... It's like if my phone was a rubix cube and you had to complete just one side to make it do anything. Not impossible but everything I was so used to doing with my old Note 8 is so Damm complicated on this thing. Yes I too miss being able to use my phone one handed. Yes a Note was easier to use one handed. Unlock hit the finger sensor and bamn it's open no swiping. Now I have to look at this thing, then I need to make sure I catch the very bottom on the middle of the screen to slide up and unlock. Hey apple I don't like this feature well let me just go into settings where I can adjust my $1,200 device to my liking. O wait nope not with this OS. WE'RE APPLE EVERYTHING WE MAKE IS PERFECT AS IS NO NEED FOR USER PREFERENCE. Jesus don't get me started on the keyboard. God I think I miss my Samsung note keyboard the most, and no there is not a keyboard app that replaces it, swift key comes close but it doesn't have the imbeded symbols in the alphabet to quickly get to things like !?@ nor do they have the foresight to do some5hing as simple as o he's typing in a hyperlink space let's but the. .com option I n the window. O he's typing a email space or verification let put the most popular email affixed @gmail or @yahoo. Is there somewhere we can submit user input in rant for so they can here my frustration with their product and take some constructive and angry critism?

It is extremely annoying!

I come from Android the last 4 years and for the first time I have to use both hands ALL the time to use my phone...even for unlocking it! I rarely use it locked!

A must have option!

I agree with the other posters, swipe up is very annoying! Coming from the iPhone 8 to the 12 where you went right to the Home Screen, I don’t see the reason for the dumb swipe up. At least add an option to bypass this in the next update. And how about an alternate Face ID to recognize us wearing a mask, or put a finger option in so we have a choice to unlock the phone.

Yes, there needs to be an Accessibility Bypass for the Swipe Up to Unlock after FaceID. Contact the ADA.

Hello Cottonwoolmouse,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!

Based on what you mentioned, you want to access your Home screen instantly from using Face ID. Imagine if you only want to check the Lock screen and your device automatically opens to the Home screen. This may have some inconveniences. However, when you use Face ID it is only meant to unlock the device or act as a key to confirm secure actions. It will not bring you to the Home screen getting the Home screen is not a hands free task. Review this document: Use Face ID on your iPhone or iPad Pro.

Best wishes!

Forcing one way or a feature to be mandatory without the option to turn on/off seems a little ignorant don't you think? Towards those consumers who might rather have it off or at least the option in case the intended convenience is not so convenient...

(Another example) would be the power/side button ending calls... I too am coming from the 8 and the end call was a toggle, now it's mando baked in. Getting rid of the home button and everything it did was a huge mistake, I mean cmon Apple, at least keep those features like instant home screen access or a finger print scanner... Don't get me started on the list of diferent ways to keep a finger print scanner but the Dev team scrapped them all. Please bring these things back... Next gen is supposed to be upgraded and additional functionality not trade offs...

I too share the same frustrations with everyone here. Been a loyal user of iphones since iphone 3GS, and every iPhone upgrade has been smooth except for this time - from iPhone 8 plus to iphone iPhone 12 pro. I thought it was a temporary adjustment to get used to but after a week, I miss the fingerprint function, finding the swipe up action after face ID an extra step inconvenient and with covid now i have to key in my passcode all the time. This drove me to search for an answer and this is how i found this thread.

please give the option to remove the swipe up feature and consider having fingerprint scanning!

I can’t stand the swiping it’s driving me insane! I have to double swipe each time to get rid of the screen because they just pile up! Why did they do this and how do we get rid of it and just swipe up and get rid of the screen and not have to keep deleting it over and over again??? Sooooo annoying!

Indeed swipe up is annoying. I have been using Andriod phones and they support face ID unlock without any touch for years I suppose. I don't understand what is so complex to provide an option to decide if I need a swipe up or just the face Id to completely unlock the device is good for the user. please provide this at the earliest

Agree with above comments. Swipe up requirement should be a setting that can be turned on/off per user preference. Please update.

Yeah just brought iphone pro max 12 after being with the original pixel for 5 years, a great phone it was! some disappointments with the Iphone some things have not improved.. I hope they do just face ID unlock or fingerprint scan. I am finding swiping annoying especially now that i am getting arthritis!!
