If you decide you want to stop automatic debit payments from your account, here are the steps you can take.

Be aware that banks commonly charge a fee for executing a stop payment order. Further, cancelling your automatic payment does not cancel your contract with the company. If you want to cancel a contract for a service, like cable or a gym, be sure to cancel your contract with the company as well as telling it to stop automatic payments. If you cancel an automatic payment on a loan, you still have to make payments on that loan.

If you’re having a problem with a bank account or service or another financial product or service, you can submit a complaint to the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

There's no monthly service fee to use Bill Pay. Charges will apply, however, for the Wells Fargo Same Day Payments ServiceSM. Please refer to our fees page for fees associated with our online services. Account fees (e.g. monthly service, overdraft) may also apply to your account(s) that you make Bill Pay payments from. Please refer to the Account Agreement, including the Fee and Information Schedule, applicable to your account(s).

The Supplemental Data Security Requirements rule expands the existing ACH Security Framework (NACHA Rule Section 1.6) to explicitly require large, non-financial institution Originators, Third-Party Service Providers, and Third Party Senders to protect account numbers used in the initiation of ACH entries by rendering them unreadable when stored electronically. The rule applies only to account numbers collected for or used in ACH transactions.

Going forward after calendar year 2021, any Originator, Third-Party Service Provider, or Third-Party Sender that originates 2 million or more ACH transactions in any calendar year will need to be compliant with the rule by June of the following calendar year.
