Mazda3 offers two drivetrain options to choose from: front-wheel drive (FWD) or i-Activ® AWD. FWD is the standard and more affordable option for drivers in which the front two wheels receive engine power. This drivetrain is a great option to consider if you would like to maximize your fuel economy and save some money. Offered as an available upgrade for the 2021 Mazda3, i-Activ® AWD is an all-wheel drive system that is designed to improve traction to the road, thus improving the driver’s
handling of the vehicle. It’s particularly useful for wet or slippery roads as all four wheels receive engine power. Not only will drivers get to choose between two drivetrain options, but you will also find two engine options available for the 2021 Mazda3. The 2.5L SKYACTIV®-G 4-cylinder engine with 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque provides plenty of power for this compact sedan. Commuters looking for a sportier
driving experience can choose to upgrade to the 2.5: SKYACTIV®-G Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine for 227 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. [ New 2021 Mazda3 Inventory at Sheehy Mazda ] For more information about the 2021 Mazda3, contact us at Sheehy Mazda. Our team is available to help

Answered by CarsGuide20 Mar 2018 Since their introduction to Australia in 2003 Mazda's compact car, the Mazda3, has used a front-wheel-drive format. This continues a tradition from the prior 323 model, dating back to the early 1980s. Some people have been confused by the Mazda CX-3 and larger CX-5 SUVs, which are based off the Mazda2's sub-compact platform, and Mazda6 family car platform, respectively. The confusion stems from the fact the CX-3 and CX-5 look like tall 4WD off-road vehicles, which are often primarily rear wheel drive with part-time front wheel drive to make them four wheel drive. However, the Mazda3 passenger cars, including the high-performance turbocharged MPS model, have all been front-wheel-drive only.
