Where is the starter on a 96 jeep grand cherokee

Follow the pos battery cable and it is at the end of it. Passanger side, just below and slightly behind the oil filter, there are 3 bolts holding it in place and 2 wires. Be careful when replacing the wires on a new starter to not over tighten the nuts. I have replaced one in 45 minutes, in the dark, holding a flashlight in my teeth - and you don't need to jack it off the ground.

Hi,

I am a noob and was wondering if someone could help me with the location of the starter on my 1996 Grand Jeep Cherokee? I need to replace it and I can't seem to find any images or videos online explaining the process.

Thanks!

Disconnect battery!!!!!
Remove two bolts holding it in place . When hanging down , remove the battery wire , and ignition switch wire , it's out . Install is reverse . Don't forget the battery disconnect !! VIP .

It's located on the pass side , where the motor and trans meet . You have to access it underneath but visable from under the hood . You can follow the positive battery cable to it also . If you slide in behind the front pass tire , about 20" in and look straight up , it's right there .

It's about 1/2 hour , not an expensive repair at a shop if you're unsure :cheers2:

Near the back of the engine on the passenger side. Access from underneath the Jeep.

Your starter can usually be found on the driver's side of the motor, just below the left bank of cylinders.

Where is the starter located?

The Starter is located on the driver's side of a vehicle between the transmission and the vehicle's engine, beneath the left mound of cylinders. It is attached to the mounting plates and is held by a few bolts. It also has two wires running to it. Starter enables your car engine to start and function properly.
