Follow the pos battery cable and it is at the end of it. Passanger side, just below and slightly behind the oil filter, there are 3 bolts holding it in place and 2 wires. Be careful when replacing the wires on a new starter to not over tighten the nuts. I have replaced one in 45 minutes, in the dark, holding a flashlight in my teeth - and you don't need to jack it off the ground. Disconnect battery!!!!! It's located on the pass side , where the motor and trans meet . You have to access it underneath but visable from under the
hood . You can follow the positive battery cable to it also . If you slide in behind the front pass tire , about 20" in and look straight up , it's right there . It's about 1/2 hour , not an expensive repair at a shop if you're unsure :cheers2: Where is the starter located on a 1996 Jeep Cherokee?Near the back of the engine on the passenger side.
