Martha Ivelisse Pesante Rodríguez, known as Ivy Queen or simply La Queen in the industry, is a celebrated Puerto Rican musician and pioneer of the Reggaeton genre. What happened to Ivy Queen? Her health update video alarms fansToday, on 31 May, Ivy Queen shared an alarming video on her TikTok, which has fans wondering what happened. While she doesn’t elaborate on what her illness is, it appears quite severe from the post. A photomontage shows the singer hooked up to various medical devices, hair wrapped in a turban and body covered in bruises. The hair covering may not be entirely unusual, though, as Queen is known for wearing wigs. Her face is pained, unsmiling or altogether hidden from the camera. In a couple of the shots, she’s resting inside what looks like an oxygen therapy chamber. Over the photos, Ivy Queen solemnly explains what happened via the following message (translated from Spanish): “I am an apprentice, not a victim of life. Here I am, with the overwhelming strength of a heart that won’t give up, because I am a warrior by nature and I’m proud of how brave I’ve been in these moments. Please, whenever you can, be an angel in someone’s life because you never know when you might need one in yours. With that said, thank you all for your concern.” The message didn’t specify what illness Queen is battling and, when asked to give details, she added: “Thank you to all those worrying for me and sending me messages. Empathy is a gift, and a manifestation.” It has been almost a month since Queen’s last social media post and her husband of ten years has confirmed she’s “in healing”. One of his Instagram stories mentions “giving her vitamin C, which is so important to your healing, my love”. To this, Ivy responded by thanking her husband for helping with her recovery. While it looks as though the singer prefers to remain private about her illness, she’s certainly not alone in this battle. The photos make it clear Ivy Queen’s health is in good hands and she’s actively receiving treatment for her condition. Reggaeton fans wish her a resounding ‘get well soon’Over on social media, confused, worried and hopeful messages from fans are flooding Queen’s comments sections, both in English and in Spanish. Over on TikTok, users are “Lifting (her) in prayers queen🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🌻🌻🌻🌻💛💛💛💛” and “wishing (her) a very speedy recovery… sending Healing prayers 🙏😘”. Meanwhile, others aren’t sure what she is going through but pray God gives her the “strength to get better soon”. Twitter fans are wishing her “lots of love and blessings”.
