The side storage cabinets next to the Z-bed, although the mirror on the inside of the tall door is missing. The rear-facing seat behind the drivers seat with storage underneath and behind it. The pop-up table. The icebox (a cooler that resembles a refrigerator) with the spice rack and pop-up cutting board. The sink with the water tank, the flip-over surface, and a new water pump. The pop-top is complete with new rubber hold-downs. The fabric is in great shape, although the zippers do not work and the mosquito netting does have some rips that have been patched with more netting. Two jalousy windows with new screens and new knobs. The cushions have been reupholstered with a new and very durable cloth material that is dark blue in color.The front seats have been covered in the same cloth material as the cushions, and could use new padding (especially the drivers seat) yet they are comfortable and functional.New curtains along the side windows, the jalousy windows, and rear window.New front cot that extends over the two front seats.New front rubber floor mat. She really is incredibly quiet, especially for a Vanagon, and a link for an additional video of her idling smoothly can be sent to you upon request (I didn’t embed it in the ad because, well, it’s kinda boring :) Additionally, here are some highlights of the work and love placed into her over the last several thousand miles: MECHANICS: During the course of recent travel she has been put thoroughly to the test and I can say with confidence that she is mechanically super solid, running tight and shifting smooth while recording consistent gas mileage of 18-21 mpg and easily maintaining HWY speeds, even while topping elevations over 9,500 ft. Along with her fully 50 state compliant exhaust system (right down to the new oxygen sensor and CA smog certificate), she has had recent front brake pads and rear brake inspection and adjustment, a new heavy duty primary battery, as well as a new high capacity deep cycle marine battery, upgraded headlight package, and new electrical components (all coolant sensors, temp sender, plugs, etc.). The van has also had a variety of big work done. Just under 10,000 miles ago she received a thorough engine rebuild shortly before being placed into storage by her original owners. Along with this work she also received an updated ECU, master cylinder replacement, new coolant hoses in the engine compartment (to complement the steel pressurized underside coolant lines -- a very nice upgrade). I have since invested in an entirely new clutch replacement kit including main seal, crank seal, throw-out bearing, resurfaced flywheel, and a thorough maintenance of the shift linkage. And while some of this work was redundant, the previous clutch pressure plate was found to be imperfect and so, once my mechanic was in there, I authorized him to replace the entire kit and once again resurface the flywheel to be sure all was well. A rather pricey endeavor, but ever since, she has been performing flawlessly. . . What can I say, good maintenance equals a happy Westy.Note: Along with her recent CA smog certificate (November 2015) she also comes with a clean CarFax report attesting to her single family ownership (prior to my purchase) and exclusive history in the western US, as well as, a clean, clear and notarized title in my name. The CAMPING EQUIPMENT (including two burner stove, 3-way fridge, and on-board water storage tank and sink) has also experienced some nice improvements (like a new submersible pump and spigot to go with the custom polished aluminum kitchen back splash) and all systems are working great (See video link for tons of detail). In addition to the main solar panels providing for your power needs, the solar power of a separate dedicated mini panel ignites the interior lighting system, illuminating automatically as the sun sets or on demand (check out the night-time video pics). This system provides all the light you need but with an ambient focus that does not penetrate the custom light blocking curtains so your presence cannot be detected from the exterior of the vehicle. Additionally, a new 3-window German pop top canvas has been installed (the heavy kind with the dual reinforced zippers) along with new pop top seals and a complete rubber replacement kit. All the exterior trim has been removed and reconditioned or replaced (from side mirrors and bumper impact strips to decals and wiper arms). The outer camper shell is in super shape and was removed and repainted when the new canvas was installed (all this shielding a perfectly preserved upper bunk inside). There is also a color complementing RED articulating skylight (very cool) with new parts and seals. Her dash is immaculate under the custom fitted, sun-safe dash mat and comes with mounted cup holders (a big plus, as those original crazy-genius German engineers seemed to think of everything except where to put their coffee). The camp set up also includes two fully articulating tables (front and rear) for everything from cooking and dining to laptop movie watching or a little work from the "beach office" fully powered by the sun. The propane tank was also upgraded with new-style ports for easy RV station refills. The addition of shoulder strap mounted rear safety belts brings an added degree of passenger safety to this super capable rig, and you and your passengers will enjoy the clear sound of a modern stereo with CD player and a new version of the original blaupunkt high output speakers and all the features that signal upcycled modernity (the auxiliary jack supports any musical memory device or smartphone). Let's face it, great safety and sound features help make for even greater road trips. As for the CUSTOM INTERIOR, if you are not hooked already, prepare to be. This camper has had its original interior panels replaced with real hand finished birch wood. A lovingly applied, 3-coat, interior/exterior, semi-gloss Varathane finish enhances the natural color and grain of the Birch, while being completely practical, easy to clean, sound insulating and way more durable than the originals. A carefully coordinated, solid, tongue and groove Bamboo plank flooring has been installed in the kitchen area (as beautiful as it is tough, this 5/8" thick, real bamboo is rated for water resistance even in residential traffic areas like kitchens, laundry and bathrooms). Speaking of tough, a recycled commercial rubber back carpet has been installed up front. This carpet (topped off with vintage Vanagon mats -- an original dealership “perk”) is super durable and dense enough to conquer unwanted road noise (By the way, the cabinets are also lined in the same carpet to keep things safe and quiet -- see video pics). The 360 degree swiveling captain's chairs feature new custom upholstery over reinforced foam with complementing lumbar support pillows, matching their rear bench seat and bed counterparts. The curtains and tie backs compliment the upholstery and are custom as well; made from a super heavy, tight gauge fabric, specifically selected for great light blocking performance (see video pics). I've also added various LED light fixtures (magnetically placeable) to supplement the solar powered surround fixture and the remaining original lights, which are also in working order. Speaking of original, the Volkswagen designed rear hatch bug screen is like new and snaps in easily for a guaranteed bug-free night's sleep, no matter how deep into the woods you venture. Above all, I have little doubt that once you slide behind the wheel you will want the adventure to continue. She is not only peppy and responsive, but has a surprising amount of power when you need it, while remaining fun and economical to drive around town. I can guarantee that she will quickly work her way into your daily driving routines. . . . Nicest Volkswagon around! I bought it 3 years ago from the original owner. It has spent 90% of its life in Arizona and has virtually NO RUST! 2 years ago I spent $5,000 on a paint job, it looks awesome! The seats have been re upholstered to match the paint perfectly! The tires are in great shape and the spare has never been used. The bed was line-X about 2 years ago as well. The odometer shows 26,000 miles. The original owner I bought it from said that the miles are accurate, but i don't know that for sure. Over all this pickup is a 9.5 out of 10. Just put a new carburetor on it a week ago. It has been my daily driver for 3 years now, and runs perfectly! The things it needs: -There are a few little chips in the paint -still has the original bumpers that should be replaced -the horn needs to be rewired - the right hand turn signal has a loose wire and works 90% of the time -the interior is about 90% finished -the heater needs to be reconnected I think that is all that it needs. Almost all original parts on the inside and many upgrades to the engine that help make it run smoother and with more confidence. Most of the engine has been swapped out from the original 1984 1.9L, to a 1986 2.1L engine and the specs will be included below. I bought Buttercup from a really caring owner, who put a lot of work into rebuilding the engine. When I purchased Buttercup the rebuilt engine had only 700 miles on it. This summer my fiance and I took Buttercup all over the west coast adding another 6000 miles, leaving the newly rebuilt engine with only 6700 miles on it. The van ran perfectly in the mountains, on the coast, and through any steep mountain pass we could throw in front of her. After the trip I replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter, I also gave her a full fuel flush. All the camper components are in excellent working order and although they are original from 30 years ago they look literally perfect. The only part that is visually aftermarket is the faucet, which is a huge upgrade compared to the old one. Paint is still really nice but due to old age Buttercup has a few small rust spots and small areas of peeling. Rust spots could be easily fixed, as they are small. Volkswagen : Bus/Vanagon Kombi 1966 Original Paint VW Volkswagen Kombi$13,000 Tehachapi, California Category - Mileage - Posted Over 1 Month 1966 Kombi with awesome Original paint. Needs work to make road worth, it has been off the road for sometime. The bus has a clear Arizona title signed by the previous owner. It was original delivered to San Francisco as a Kombi, it was then converted to a camper before it left California. Sometime later it was turned back into a Kombi and the camper interior was done away with. The bus is pretty bare at this point and missing odds and ends, although it does come with the correct front and rear seat frames. It has some rust coming through the passenger rocker (see pic), the edge of the cargo floor, and it will need a battery tray. The bus has already had aftermarket safaris installed along with a new front floor, both were match painted and blended to match the rest of the bus. The bus does have some roof damage above the cargo doors from a tree branch falling on it, it will come with a core motor (cond. unknown), a rebuilt transmission (AZ. Transmissions) center section from a bug that was set up for a reduction box trans (412 R/P, .82 4th, welded 3rd and 4th, super diff, heavy duty side plate, and axle tube retainers). However, the ring gear can be flipped if you would like to use it for a straight axle conversion. I was originally going to buff the paint out, get the bus running, and keep it the way it is, but my priorities have changed and I am going after something else.
