Which ladders do window cleaners use?

Window cleaners use two different types of ladders when at work. The first variety is the standard A shaped extension ladder which you will find a range of on this page, the shape of these allow you to work into corners and rest the under windows and the pointed shape of traditional window cleaning ladders help distribute the weight on the ladder. With this said, a vast majority of window cleaners also use standard extension ladders, one benefit of this type of ladder is stand offs and accessories such as bucket hooks can be used to make the job in hand easier and safer to complete.

Can you rest a ladder against a window?

As window cleaning ladders are pointed it may be tempting to use the point on the window frames when working, however we’d avoid doing this completely. When working at height the ladder should be rested against a solid surface to ensure maximum safety.

Can you get a top block for these products?

Window cleaning ladders do have top blocks as an additional option. A top block attaches to the top of the ladder to reduce the likelihood of the ladder marking the surface you are working on.

What size ladder Do I need to wash windows?

You should pick a long enough extension ladder for most of your jobs without going over the top. 20-foot extension ladders will generally be tall enough to reach second floor windows, but if you want to go higher, you'll need a 30-foot ladder for window cleaning.
