Stearns county breakfast on the farm 2022

We might not have toddlers, but I can tell you our teens still enjoy the Breakfast on the Farm events. Although it’s called “Breakfast on the Farm,” many of the events have evolved a bit and some are offering lunch or dinner. 

The events started out celebrating June Dairy Month, and over the years each of them has become more and more unique. Each event is more than just food; they usually offer a tour of the farm operation as well as activities for the kids. 

One of the best things about the events: the food is VERY reasonably priced, sometimes even donation or free depending on the location and sponsorship.

These events have been very popular, in fact so popular that there are getting to be fewer and fewer of them. There aren’t many farms large enough to host such events and with the logistics involved to support the large crowds, unfortunately it means fewer events. 

In the past, we have had a long list to share and each year the list seems to get smaller and smaller.  We will continue to add to the list if we find additional events. 

Sibley County: June 3, 6:30 – 10:30 am

Clay County: June 4, 7 am – 12 pm

Wisconsin Events:  June 4th – July 10th 

Carver County:  June 11, 7am-1pm

Wright/Carver County: June 11, 7 am – 12 pm

Steele County: June 11, 8 am – 12 pm

Kanabec-Isanti County: June 18, 7 – 11 am

Anoka County: August 11, 8 – 9:30 am

County Farm Bureaus and area agricultural organizations host Breakfast on the Farms each year as an opportunity for people to see a real farm in their community, eat breakfast or have a meal and learn about farming.  The events aren’t just about the food, they offer education, history, and entertainment.  You will be sure to learn something new!

Every June, farms across Wisconsin welcome the public to join them for breakfast or brunch! These fun events are perfect memory makers with so much fun to be had after breakfast and exploring modern dairy farms.

Breakfast on the Farm is a fun way to celebrate our Wisconsin roots and June Dairy Month.

What is Breakfast on the Farm

Wisconsin County Dairy Promotion Associations sponsor a “Breakfast on the Farm” as a dairy promotion fundraiser each year. Typically a different family farm hosts every year.

These delightful mornings give visitors an opportunity for local visitors to experience a dairy farm and see many parts of family farming on different types of dairy operations.

A variety of activities during the event make it an ideal entertaining and educational experience for families.

What to Expect at Breakfast on the Farm

• Family-Friendly Activities – Every farm has different activities, but many include farm tours, petting zoos, wagon rides, face painting, and games for kids. There are also opportunities to touch tractors and farm animals! Larger events even include live music.
• Home Cooked Breakfast – Each farm breakfast will have a unique menu but you can expect scrambled eggs, hashbrowns, cheese, and of course milk! Some breakfasts even include an ice cream treat.
• Farm & Barn Tours – Barns have changed and these events typically include a tour of the farm and sometimes demos of farm equipment and history.

Go Valley Kids Tips

• Purchase tickets in advance to avoid long lines! Check on event pages for more information on where to purchase tickets before.
• Bring a stroller. Many of the activities are spread out. The stroller is also a great place to stash any handouts and freebies.
• Pack wipes or washcloths. Portable bathrooms are available but have wipes along to help with animal hands or sticky fingers.
• Be prepared for LOTS of people. We usually avoid events with huge crowds but still love going to these breakfasts. They are usually very well organized and prepared for the people. The parking is monitored and the activities are spread out. Pack a ball, a couple of books, crayons and/or bubbles for downtime waiting.
