Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, CA And the haunt news train keeps a-rollin’! Yesterday wasn’t just
news from Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights. Six Flags Magic Mountain also dropped the deets for their Fright Fest even this year! The tally brings us one new maze, two new scare zones, one new show, and a new boos-y boozy experience. Truth or Dare will be replacing Red’s Revenge at the front of the park. The first of the newer generation of Fright
Fest mazes that took a step forward in quality, Red’s Revenge was a great maze that had definitely been showing its age the past few seasons. Truth or Dare promises some creative designs and perhaps some interactivity. It should definitely be interesting! (Photo courtesy of Six Flags Magic Mountain.) On the scare zone front, Devil’s Triangle replaces the Demon’s Door theme that has been at Fright Fest for years. The ocean theme might very well be Fright Fest meets Shark Week, and at the very least, should have some great monster make-up looks from legendary Magic Mountain makeup artist, Scott Ramp. Meanwhile, the scares return to Bugs Bunny World for the first time in a while with CarnivHELL, a large carnival scare zone that features deranged circus performers and probably some clowns to boot. It effectively replaces the Witches Lair pseudo-scare zone located near the Justice League dark ride. (Image courtesy of Six Flags Magic Mountain.) (Photo courtesy of Six Flags Magic Mountain.) Fright Fest had two new shows last year—Grave Games and Dark Minds. But both are being replaced by The Rising, which takes place in the Devil’s Triangle scare zone and seems to be a sort of monster story show, perhaps similar to the funeral march at Forsaken Lake or the wicker man burning at The Hollow in Knott’s Berry Farm. We’re curious to see how this comes out. Voodoo Nights returns for an evening dance party, and Unleashed is the opening ceremony that kicks everything off at 7:00pm!
