Riverside Medical Center is one of the Watson Health 100 Top Hospitals and Magnet® designation for nursing care. We take care of each other as well as our patients—our program is designed to respect our residents' quality of life. When our residents are asked why they chose Riverside they say it's the strong sense of camaraderie, support, and a family atmosphere that most attracted them to come here. Our goal is simple: to provide the best possible clinical training in a supportive environment conducive to learning. We achieve this through close mentorship, modeling professionalism, and a commitment to our patients and by setting high academic standards. We are proud of our program’s hundred percent success at Internal Medicine Boards since its inception. For a decade since the inception of the program, I have had the privilege of mentoring residents in our program and watching them become skilled, confident, compassionate physicians. Our community-based program is structured to provide well-rounded training in preparing our trainees in general internal medicine or to pursue sub-specialty training. We provide a balance of inpatient and ambulatory experiences in general internal medicine and its subspecialties. We focus on patient-centeredness, diagnostic reasoning, evidence-based decision making. Our faculty cultivates an environment of integrity, compassion, excellence, and teamwork. The faculty has an “open-door” policy that promotes one-to-one communication with residents. Our Medical Intensive Care Unit is managed by the residents under the supervision of Board Certified Critical Care Intensivists who are available 24/7 to support the residents. Residents learn how to manage our most complex patients in this setting. Our faculty is made up of some of the finest clinicians in the area who are fully engaged in teaching and who are strongly supported by the institution to do so. Residents are encouraged and supported to engage in scholarly activities and are mentored by faculty members. We are proud that every year our residents present at national, regional and local conferences. Our residents are actively engaged in quality and safety initiatives at Riverside Medical Center and participate in institutional committees, preparing them to become physician leaders of the future. Riverside Medical Center and the Internal Medicine Residency Program are dedicated to the well-being of our trainees. Each year we engage our residents in well-being, team-building, and communication activities. Please feel free to contact us if we can provide any additional information.
