ABERDEEN, S.D. - Megan Mooberry of Northern State University earned the NSIC Elite 18 Award for women's outdoor track & field. Mooberry was presented the award following the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which concluded Saturday from Aberdeen, South Dakota. As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC's 18 Championships. Mooberry is a senior majoring in biology & chemistry and holds a 4.00 grade point average. The Osage, Iowa native finished fifth in the 10000m with a time of 37:29.41 at the NSIC Championships this season. During her career she recorded outdoor bests of 4:53.63 in the 1500m, 36:47.29 in the 10,000m, and 17:34.03 in the 5000m. She also won the 10,000m at the Sioux City Relays in 2021. BURNSVILLE, Minn. – The NSIC has announced the dates, formats and locations for the 2022-23 league championships and postseason tournaments with Concordia-St. Paul announced as the host site for the NSIC Volleyball Tournament and the NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Volleyball will be held at Gangelhoff Center on Friday, November 11, Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13 and be comprised of the top eight teams in the final regular season NSIC Standings. The NSIC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be hosted at Sea Foam Stadium on Thursday, May 11, Friday, May 12 and Saturday, May 13. The NSIC sponsors 18 sports, with teams advancing to postseason tournaments in the sports of soccer, volleyball, men's & women's basketball, baseball, softball and women's tennis. Championship meets are held in the sports of men's & women's cross country, women's swimming & diving, men's and women's indoor/outdoor track & field, and men's & women's golf. Football and wrestling regular season championships are based on regular season standings, with no NSIC postseason tournament.
