How to make dark chocolate with cocoa powder

Step 1 Chop the dry fruits and make the chocolate mix

To make this dessert, start by chopping the mixed dry fruits roughly. Now, place a pan over low flame and heat coconut oil in it. Keep stirring on a low flame, and wait for it to melt completely. When it melts, add the cocoa powder to it, along with the honey and maple syrup. Make sure you keep stirring it. Pour in the vanilla extract and sprinkle the chopped dry fruits, and mix all the ingredients well.

How to make dark chocolate with cocoa powder

I am the biggest chocoholic. I really am.

The funny thing is, I mostly like milk chocolate.

But, ever since I made this recipe years ago in 2013, I’m loving this dark chocolate.

I still love milk chocolate but really enjoy these dark chocolate bars just as much and probably more since they are made with just a few healthy ingredients.

Making this recipe for dark chocolate bars is a really good choice next time you have a chocolate craving. I mean this, it totally cures my chocolate craving and just a little bit is so decadent tasting that I don’t usually go for more than one or two servings.

Not only is this simple homemade dark chocolate bar healthy, it’s also raw, paleo, refined sugar free, low carb, and gluten free.

However, this recipe makes a really great tasting chocolate bar. Made with only 5 basic ingredients, well actually 3 basic ingredients. You’ll see below where the ingredients are listed.

Whenever I’m having a chocolate craving, this is my go-to recipe.

The recipe takes less than five minutes to make and then about an hour in the freezer to set up.

By making chocolate bars this way, it isn’t melting down a chocolate bar or chocolate chips into a mold, It’s actually mixing the few ingredients that make up a chocolate bar and then spreading into a chocolate bar mold or loaf pan.

So, this is the reason I like the molds because they come out looking just like a chocolate bar.

Maybe a Hershey bar?? I think so.

I highlighted one candy mold that is pretty close to the one I used but, since my molds are almost 10 years old, they don’t seem to carry them anymore.

You can also use a silicone mold like this one. Just count out 8 servings no matter how you make the chocolate bars.

I have a photo of my daughter eight years ago making these and spreading them out into a baking pan and how they looked when they were cut into squares. After that first recipe I started to use the molds. I think it’s time a buy a few new ones.

Who knew making chocolate was so easy to do at home?

It really is and fun too.

With these few basic ingredients you can munch on rich dark chocolate without the guilt.

Sometimes, I add nuts or coconut for a crunchy texture, but most of the time my family and I just want that creamy, dark chocolate goodness just as it is.

Let the kids help you make this, they will see that healthy ingredients can make delicious recipes without all the junk inside.

Go crazy and add some fun toppings like goji berries or cacao nibs for an even deeper, rich flavor of chocolate in it’s whole form.

I hope you and your family and friends love this recipe for an oh so yummy dark chocolate bar.

Here are the few healthy ingredients below

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, softened, not melted. (This is very important to have the best consistency for finished product) I like to use refined coconut oil because it doesn’t taste like coconut
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons unsweetened dark cocoa powder, I used Hershey’s Special Dark (Dutch)
  • 2 tablespoons agave nectar, honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch fine sea or kosher salt
  • nuts, coconut flakes optional for topping

Here’s how to make these yummy dark chocolate bars at home

Directions:

  1. If needed, softened the coconut oil by placing in the microwave for just a few seconds.
  2. Mix all ingredients (except toppings) with a small rubber spatula, or plastic fork in a medium mixing bowl until smooth. The mixture will be thick.
  3. If using a candy bar mold. Spoon the mixture into the mold(s) and spread out until even. Repeat with the other mold. I got two filled molds out of the recipe. These are supposed to be thin like a Hershey Bar.
  4. If using a pan, spread into a loaf pan that’s been lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with toppings if you chose. With hands, shape into a square. Place in freezer for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Take out, cut into small squares or rectangles. These chocolate bars must be kept in the freezer and best eaten within two days.

Enjoy the deliciousness
