How to delete pop ups on chrome

Pop-up blockers, however, serve an extremely useful purpose: preventing annoying ads from interrupting you while visiting a page. If you’re not using an ad and pop-up blocker like AdBlock, we hope you’re using your browser’s settings to prevent pop-ups from bothering you. In fact most browsers enable basic pop-up blocking by default. But you may occasionally need to disable your pop-up blocker in order to print something, open a login screen, or get access to information that pops up in a new window.

Pop-ups are an expected part of using the internet. However, some websites take the feature too far and thrust intrusive ads and other messages before your eyes, interrupting your workflow and causing frustration. You don't need to deal with advertisements that overstep when you have the right tools to stop pop-ups in Google Chrome. To allow or block pop-ups from specific websites:

  1. In Chrome, navigate to the upper right corner and click on the three dots to open Chrome’s menu

8. Add a website to the list called Allowed to send pop-ups and use redirects if you want to let this particular one show you pop-ups after all. Don't forget to block the rest in the Default behavior.

Alternatively, if you’re on a web page and want to see a pop-up Chrome has blocked:

  1. In the address bar on the left, click the Pop-up blocked icon
  2. Click the link for the pop-up
  3. Select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [site] and click Done

Remove any ads from Chrome with Clario ad blocker

The Clario ad-blocking extension for Chrome is more than a free and easy-to-use way to block ads. Along with removing annoying pop-ups and ads, Clario stops websites from tracking you and tells you if the websites in your search results are safe and if the site you're visiting has malicious links. Once installed and running, you will see little green (if safe) or red (if unsafe) icons next to the websites in search.

But that’s not all. If you install the Clario desktop app along with the extension, you’ll also get a VPN, malware protection (since the app checks scripts running on websites), and 24/7 live support from cybersecurity professionals. The desktop app comes at a reasonable price and offers a free trial.

Why do pop-ups keep appearing on Chrome?

Pop-ups can be just annoying or plain evil. The annoying ones often pressure you into buying something or signing up for stuff. They’re easy to get rid of and usually appear because:

  • They promote buying a product related to the website you’re browsing
  • They inform you of related content you might like based on what you’ve just read or seen
  • They give you subscription options, whether that’s for newsletters or video channels (such as YouTube)
  • They’re advertising something to you based on cookies (i.e., your browsing experience and preferences)

Unfortunately, there are also malicious pop-ups resulting from adware. Adware is a form of malware that keeps randomly showing pop-ups even when you’re not using your browser. These pop-ups may slow down your device, install spyware, or trick you into installing other viruses.

If you see pop-ups all the time, even when you’re not browsing, and they’re pretending to be a government organization suspecting you of tax evasion or a support team urging you to take action over a virus infection, then you’ve probably caught adware.

There’s not much you can do about it, aside from finally getting yourself a comprehensive digital security solution such as Clario.

At Clario, we believe technology should work for the people, not the other way around. You should be free to browse online without unwelcome pop-ups or the fear of contracting malware. So if our tips on how to get rid of pop-up ads on Chrome helped improve your digital experience, we’re more than happy. Why do pop

You may be getting pop-ups in Chrome because the pop-up blocker program hasn't been properly configured. Chrome features only two pop-up blocker settings: "Allow all sites to show pop-ups" and "Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)." The latter option must be selected to block pop-ups.
