What water filter do I need for my GE® fridge?There are 6 kinds of refrigerator water filters used on GE® refrigerators. Waterdrop has all replacement for GE® MWF, RPWF (not RPWFE), MSWF, GSWF, XWF (not XWFE) and MXRC. Pls note that RPWFE and XWFE have a RFID chip on the water filter cartridge. Waterdrop currently doesn’t have replacement for these two water filters.
Where is the water filter on GE® refrigerator located?The location of your water filter and filter type varies based on your refrigerator model. Typical locations on bottom-freezer units include the back upper right corner, inside the left door, or the upper left corner of the fresh food compartment.
How to change or replace GE® refrigerator water filter?1.
Grasp the filter and turn it to the left until it stops, while gently pulling downward from the filter head. (If the filter doesn't come loose easily, air may be trapped inside. To relieve any pressure, push in on the water dispenser; the filter should drop right out.)

the bottom of the cartridge to disengage it from the filter clips. Swing the cartridge outward until you hear the 'click' of the cartridge holder engaging with the bracket.

Refrigerator – RPWFE operation and troubleshooting.On bottom freezer refrigerators that use the RPWFE water filter, the fridge uses radio frequency identification (RFID) to monitor the filter status. The water filter cartridge is located inside the cartridge holder in the upper left corner of the fresh food compartment. The RFID chip on the filter detects when a wrong or non-genuine GE® Appliance part is used. If this happens, the dispenser will not work and the display may read "Leak Detected". The refrigerator has the option to use a bypass plug if you don’t want to use a genuine GE® Appliances water filter.
