How do i connect my samsung phone to tv

Screen mirroring allows you to mirror what you see on your phone, tablet or laptop onto your larger TV screen.

The method you use for screen mirroring will depend on the age, model and type of TV you have and the age, model and type of device you are trying to mirror.

How do I know what method to use?

Screen Mirroring feature (most Samsung devices)

Most Samsung smartphones include a Screen Mirroring feature which enables screen mirroring with Samsung Smart TVs and other smart devices.

The Screen Mirroring feature is compatible with TVs that use WiFi direct technology. The first model that supported screen mirroring was the F range in 2013. You can check the age of your Samsung TV here. If your TV is older than the F range (2013) then you can still use screen mirroring via an Allshare Cast.

Click here for steps showing you how to use the Screen Mirroring feature to connect to your Samsung Smart TV.

Quick Connect (most Samsung mobile devices)

If your Samsung device is older or does not have the Screen Mirroring feature, most Samsung smartphones include a Quick Connect feature. This allows the device to seek out other smart devices such as TVs, printers or other Wi-Fi enabled devices and connect quickly. Click here to find out more about using Quick Connect.

HDMI connection (older devices, laptops or TVs)

If you have an older TV or device, or are trying to connect a laptop or PC, you may need to use a wired connection and/or connector. Click here for more information about using an HDMI cable for screen mirroring.

Connecting your Samsung smartphone or tablet to a non-Samsung TV

If your non-Samsung TV has Wi-Fi enabled, you may be able to connect using the screen mirroring feature on your Samsung device if the TV supports it.

You can also use an Allshare Cast to connect to HDMI enabled TVs and monitors. Find out more about the Allshare Cast here.

You may also be able to connect via an HDMI cable.

Connecting your non-Samsung device to a Samsung TV

You may be able to connect your non-Samsung smart device to a Samsung TV but this will depend on the manufacturer of the non-Samsung device and the age and model of your Samsung TV.

Samsung Smart TVs may be able to pick up Wi-Fi enabled devices for wireless screen mirroring where that device has a screen mirroring function.

If your device does not support screen mirroring with your Samsung TV, you have a few options. You can try using a third-party app to enable your device to connect to your Samsung TV, you can try using an HDMI cable, or you can purchase a streaming device such as an Amazon Firestick, or Google Chromecast.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support for non-Samsung devices or third party applications. If you would like the manufacturer of your non-Samsung device to provide compatibility with Samsung TVs and other devices, we recommend contacting them directly.

Connect your smart devices for a truly connected home, and keep track of it all on the SmartThings Dashboard. It's your go-to place, from checking in on your baby to keeping an eye on the laundry. Being connected to your home also means you get notifications delivered to your Samsung Smart TV so you don't have to get up and check yourself. You can even turn on the air conditioner while watching your program. Your TV is the finishing touch to a true smart home.

Some use cases stated above, such as checking the baby monitor, will require purchase of separate devices.

Screen mirroring is a technology that allows the screen of a mobile device to be transmitted to the TV screen as it is and viewed on a large screen of the TV. The SmartThings app and Smart View allow you to quickly and easily connect to your Samsung Smart TV, but you can also connect via a Wi-Fi or HDMI connection. In addition, from the 2020 model, you can mirror your phone by simply touching your compatible Samsung mobile device on the TV. Various contents such as photos, videos and apps on your smartphone will be shown on a larger screen and feel more impressed.

To mirror the screen wirelessly, Wi-Fi connection is essential to your TV. For non-smart TVs, you will need a casting device such as a Samsung AllShare Cast, Chromecast or Amazon Firestick.
