How come my screen recording has no sound

Are you frustrated by installing various screen recording Apps across Google Play Store & you’re still wondering, “Why my screen recording doesn’t have sound?” if your answer is “Yes” then no need to worry because we’re here with the working solution to help you to resolve the problem. But before we discuss some solutions, be sure your problem is exactly (or similar to) what we have mentioned below in details:

What does it mean, My screen recording doesn’t have sound?

It means, you have a dedicated Android App installed on your phone for a screen recording purpose & it’s doing its work perfectly. But the problem is, you just don’t need a screen recording but you’re also expecting that dedicated App to record internal sound & it doesn’t have that feature included.

That’s the reason when you try to record gameplay or any other videos then you find yourself stuck in two situations: 1) Video/Gameplay gets recorded without sound & 2) When you enable the sound recording your dedicated Android App records both internal (sound from your Gameplay/Video) & external (everything that’s happening around you eg. Sound from television, outside vehicles, etc).

Solutions

In such situations there are two working solutions which we have tested on our Android devices.

1] For Android 10 users

If your device is running on Android 10 (or its successor) then there is a very simple way to resolve your problem, “Why my screen recording doesn’t have internal sound?” For those who don’t know on which version of Android your smartphone is running on then we suggest you confirm it by visiting Settings > About Phone > Software information.

Install new App

What you have to do is, Open your Google “Play Store” App & search for the “Screen recorder with audio.”

After that, you’ll see the application named “Screen Recorder & Video Recorder – XRecorder” click & install it on your phone. You can also download that App directly via this link. (Please note that this is just for information purposes. We don’t receive an affiliate commission if you install the above App from our link).

Once the installation is complete, open the App & follow below steps :

Click on “Settings” option (Gear icon) available at the bottom right of the screen :

Click on “Record Audio” from the available options :

After that you’ll see two options for Audio source: 1) Microphone (You can use this option when you want to record your own voice with screen content) & 2) Internal Audio (Which have clearly mentioned, “Only support Android 10 and above. Your app or game should also support internal audio recording”).

Click on “Internal Audio” :

Now you have completed all the important steps which will help you to record internal sound when the screen recording is on.

The next & last step is, whenever you would like to record your Android phone’s screen with internal sound just click on the “XRecorder” App & then you’ll see the record screen icon in red color available at the right side of your screen (without opening the App) :

That’s it. If your device is on Android 10 & you have followed all the above steps then you don’t need to ask, “Why my screen recording doesn’t have sound or (internal sound)?” just go & record your favorite content.

2] For Non-Android 10 users

If you are using an Android smartphone running on version 9.0 Pie (or older) then unfortunately your system doesn’t allow you to record internal sound while doing screen recording & it doesn’t matter which application you’re using unless your phone is rooted (that’s the risky process. So, we don’t want to recommend that to our visitors).

But wait, there is a solution for every problem (at least in tech). You can still record internal sound in your Android device while recording the screen.

Need Earphones

Yes, you need Earphones with a dedicated button provided to receive & end phone calls. Now what you have to do is, whenever you start screen recording you need to simultaneously press the dedicated on/off button (actually that’s a microphone button) which will record all internal sounds from your phone’s content. While doing this don’t try to add any super glue (Fevikwik or similar) inside/outside the microphone button otherwise you may lose your costly earphones.
