What is MemesPortal Meme Generator?

Memes Portal is the best memes maker website that provides a free online image maker tool or meme generator that allows you to add custom resizable text to any images. Here in our memes templates section, you can make any memes online with the help of any template or if you want to edit meme template in your software so you can easily download the template without any watermark problem. Most commonly, people use the generator to add text captions to established memes, so technically it’s more of a meme “captioner” than a meme maker. However, you can also upload your own images as templates.

How can I customize my memes with meme generator tool?

  • You can move and resize the text boxes by dragging them around. If you want another text box the click on the 3rd option which is “Add New Text Option”.
  • You can customize the font colour and outline colour by clicking on the colour option by the way the default colour of text always remains white and the outline remains black.
  • You can further customize the font Alignment by click on the last option.
  • You can also draw anything by simply clicking on the 2nd option from the upper box and if you want to remove that drawing from the image then you have to click on the 4th option which is the “Clear” Option.
  • Here you can create memes easily and save them too without any problem.

About

Don't Make Me Tap the Sign refers to a scene from a 1998 episode of The Simpsons in which a bus driver taps a sign reading "Do not talk to driver" in order to get Lisa Simpson to stop talking to him. A still image of the sign became an exploitable image labeling format online, the text being replaced to change the context. It is often used along with the phrase "don't make me tap the sign" as a caption and in image macros.

Origin

On May 10th, 1998, episode 24 of the ninth season of The Simpsons, titled "Lost Our Lisa,"[1] aired on television. At one point in the episode, Lisa boards a bus and tries to introduce herself to the driver, who is uninterested and points at a sign reading "do not talk to driver". She tries to talk again and he angrily taps the sign, discouraging her (scene shown below).

Spread

It's unknown who originally used the image as a meme, but early examples date back to at least 2014 on Twitter (example shown below). On October 1st of the same year, FitnessMagician tweeted[2] a version of the image replacing the text with "RE-RACK YOUR WEIGHTS" with the caption "don't make me tap the sign" representing an early example of the image as an exploitable (shown below, right).
