Mercon LV Replacement - Feeling good - works great!

I purchased 5QTS to complete a drain and fill on my 2019 Ford Escape with the 6R35 Transmission -- this is not "officially" licensed by Ford but is recommended by Valvoline for use with the Mercon LV specs-- the transmission is a joint development from Chevrolet and Ford - I compared the specs from the Mercon LV fluid and the ONLY difference is the viscosity at -40C - not even a concern for the climate I live in. After the drain and fill my car shifts smoother and softer, it's has pep, and I feel like it drives like the day it was purchased. I would def purchase again to keep on schedule with my transmission maintenance. I can't comment on longevity as of yet seeing the change just happened but I will say after doing research and knowing how the Mercon LV fluid degrades over time I'm hopeful this will be more durable since it is a synthetic fluid. Time will tell. All that to say if you have Ford that requires LV -- don't stress it -- order it... it works!

I have been using this since I built a new trans for my daily driver. I have used this 4 times in a row, the fluid seems to hold up well. I do not see much "sludge" in the bottom of the trans pan (there is always some in an automatic, but it does seem to be notably less on this fluid). It still looks mostly clean and of a nice slightly darker pink color when I flush it around 36,000 miles. I have never seen this fluid burn or discolor badly, though I do not run extreme intervals. I am confident that I could push this fluid well beyond the 36,000 mile recommended interval from GM for my 2008 car ( I know a lot of newer cars have longer intervals) but do not see a reason to take the risk. Dexron VI is a good fluid spec anyway, buy I view the extra few dollars for a good synthetic as a small insurance policy to keep my transmission healthy. I would recommend the fluid, but I would also recommend looking for a sale price on it. Also, ignore the 2 star rating, seems irrelevant, and is only disappointment that Dexron VI is not a lower spec fluid? Not actually a review of this fluid.

    Prestone -Power Steering Fluid + Stop Leak - 32 fl. oz. - Anti-Wear, 50,000 Mile (Part No.AS263Y)

    Description

Prestone® Power Steering Fluid + Stop Leak (PSF+SL) delivers increased system life and prevents & stops system leaks. Stop Leak additives renew, restore and condition seals in the power steering system. These seals harden and shrink over time which are the likely cause of leaks. The stop leak additives also prevent leaks by rejuvenating seals before they leak. Also designed with Anti-wear System Protection, Prestone PSF+SL protects against pump failure, squeals and clogs. This 50,000 mile fluid life is formulated for use in all manufacturers; cars, SUVs, crossovers, and light and medium duty trucks. This a conventional fluid. Many cars 2006 and newer use synthetic based fluids for longer life and better protection. Conventional and synthetic fluids can be mixed but performance and replacement intervals are reduced by the conventional fluid.

    Product Features:

    • 50,000 Mile Fluid Life
    • Includes Stop Leak Additives to prevent and stop power steering system leaks.
    • Anti-Wear Protection = Increased System Life. Protects against pump failure, squeals and clogs. Corrosion protection for metals, rubber & gasket components.
    • Conventional Formula - For use in all manufacturers

I've initially used this in a '00 Ford Expedition with the BW4406 AWD case. Improved the shift performance greatly over the previous installed fluid. I'm now using this in the t-case of a '02 GMC Envoy XL with the NVG 226 HD which calls for the blue Autotrak 2 fluid. Initial install of 2 qts for a 5k cleaning run after the original fluid came out black. This fluid improved the shift performance of this case and prevented the dash light from constantly changing. I just serviced this t-case once again after 4800 miles & the fluid came out a dark red. I installed 2 fresh quarts of this fluid and the shift performance is buttery smooth, in fact the shift was so smooth that I was not sure if the case actually shifted into 4-hi. This works well in both the aforementioned cases & I would not hesitate to use in any case this is recommended for.
