The rest is bone, fat and cartiledge. These ribs are absolutely one of our favorite meals. They're served best with a baked potato (make mine a yam), a tossed salad, a side of vegetable (I like steamed asparagus). Country Style Ribs Slow Cooker on HighA single layer of country style ribs cooks on high in a crock pot in 4 to 6 hours. The ribs are done when the meat is fork tender or can be easily cut with a fork. Packing the crock with more meat will definitely increase cooking time. Ribs taste best cooked on a low and slow method to ensure a tender meal. The crock pot, on high or low, is a great way to cook cuts of meat that have multiple muscles and make them tender. If country style ribs are cooked too quickly they may dry out and be chewy. What Cut of Meat is Country Style RibsCountry style ribs are part pork loin and part pork shoulder. Pork loin is very lean and a lighter colored meat. Pork shoulder is a darker meat that has more intramuscular fat. Fat equals flavor, so people often prefer the taste of darker meat. Of all the pork ribs country style ribs are my favorite because of the blend of flavors, part lean, yet very tender. Boneless ribs are much easier to eat and far less messy. Another benefit of country style ribs is that they can often be found on sale for a good price. When I find a good sale I like to stock up and freeze uncooked ribs to have on hand for future meals.
