What can I expect to pay for a visit at Planned Parenthood?
This depends on the type of health care you require and your health insurance carrier. If you do not have health insurance, we can offer you services based on our discount fee scale. Our patients find that Planned Parenthood health care fees are very reasonable, especially when compared to other doctors’ offices.

What forms of payment does Planned Parenthood accept?

What should I bring with me?

Can I use my health insurance at Planned Parenthood?
Yes! We welcome many major health insurance carriers for billing for female reproductive health services (GYN). You will be asked to present your insurance card and pay your co-pay at the time of the visit. Some health insurances will require you to notify them of a change in your GYN provider.

What if I can’t pay or do not have health insurance?
Planned Parenthood participates in a statewide program called DE CAN (Delaware Contraceptive Access Now), which provides subsidized birth control, GYN care, and other reproductive health services for individuals who cannot pay full price. This program will not pay for an abortion. To qualify, we ask all clients seeking services at Planned Parenthood to answer a few questions related to their income and number of dependents. This helps our staff determine what amount we can cover on our sliding fee scale.

What is the discounted fee scale?
DE CAN is a state program that guarantees a woman’s right to family planning services regardless of her ability to pay for them. The state government provides money to family planning clinics, like Planned Parenthood, so that a woman who does not have health insurance can get care at reduced rates, or in some cases without cost, depending on her family income at the time of her visit. We also cover services for any person coming to us for STI and HIV testing/treatment.

How much does an abortion cost?
The fee for an abortion is $500 – $791, depending on gestation age of pregnancy and your desire for moderate sedation. Some private insurance will cover abortion services. The Justice Fund can provide some grant assistance for women receiving an abortion. Assistance is based upon financial status.

What should I do if I received an IUD or an Implant (Nexplanon) for free through Be Your Own Baby and I would like to have it removed after the campaign ends on March 31st, 2019?
If you received your IUD or Implant at a Be Your Own Baby partner health care center, Be Your Own Baby will reimburse your for any out-of-pocket costs related to your removal. Reimbursements for removals are available through the life of the device. Save the invoice or receipt from your device removal, and go to upstream.inmarrebates.com to claim the rebate.

How often do Planned Parenthood’s fees change?
Planned Parenthood will be making changes to its fees as needed, in order to ensure that our fees provide the greatest advantage to all our patients. If you don’t have Medicaid or other health insurance, you may be eligible for a discount on your visit fees, depending on your income.

Could these changes affect how much I pay?
Yes. After you disclose your monthly income, your discount may be larger or smaller than what you received on previous visits. These changes have been made to ensure that discounts are fair for all. However, if your income falls within the DE CAN guidelines for a discount, you will receive your health care at a reduced rate.

Why does Planned Parenthood ask for payment at the time of service?
There are two reasons. First, it helps us keep costs down so we can continue to offer you affordable health care. Also, paying at the time of your visit ensures that you will not receive unwanted mail from us in the form of a bill.
