Influenced by world cuisines and taking inspiration from personal travels, the breakfast menu at the restaurant promises creative preparations featuring a multitude of textures and tastes.

Reading through Wild Honey’s popular dish list is like taking a world tour.

Stopovers include the Brooklyn Double Pastrami burger, the Norwegian – avocado with grilled asparagus, Turkish – poached eggs with baked yoghurt, and the Canadian – buttermilk pancakes, candied strip bacon, maple syrup, and hibiscus-berry compote.

A good indication of a restaurant’s popularity is the clientele it attracts. In the case of Common Man Coffee Roasters, you should find both locals and tourists stopping by to indulge in locally-roasted coffee, juices, wine, and their all-day brunch-style menu.

Located at 22 Martin Road, the café has a trendy industrial look with a long barista bar parallel to an equally lengthy communal table.

They also offer an all-day breakfast menu with house-favourites of Croissant Croque Monsieur, Organic Eggs Benedict, Turkish Common Man Breakfast, to Home-baked Beans with Confit Chorizo.

It doesn’t take long to fall for the allure of PS.Café at Dempsey.

A plush respite from the city’s hustle, the café has been a much-loved destination in Dempsey Hill, the former British barracks now a luxury shopping mall.

Open since 2005, PS. Café exudes a contemporary and refreshing aura. Its spacious and bright interiors, large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the lush greenery, and indoor-outdoor seating options give it a stylish yet relaxed character.

The all-day dining restaurant situated in the outer limits of Kampong Glam, famous for its textile shops and Malay restaurants, Symmetry breaks the neighbourhood’s commercial mould with its hip ambience and lively disposition.

The food is no different. Visually enticing, it uses fresh seasonal ingredients to create classic Australian flavours rich in taste and quality.

Popular brunch items include the Truffle Cheese Omelette ($25), Crab on Toast ($27), Symmetry Eggs Benedict ($26), and Lamb Shakshouka ($28).

This is a really popular brunch spot, so much so that my friends far away from Bukit Timah will purposely travel all the way there.

Atlas Coffeehouse is helmed by the team behind Assembly Coffee, and the name is the acronym for At-Land-Air-Sea. The interior reflects part of the theme.

At las(t), not the usual repetitive brunch fares seen in the usual cafes. Presentation is straight-forward and it is evident that they are steering away from just being ‘Instagram-worthy’.

Loads of interesting brunch items, from Hotcakes & Lemon Curd ($15.50), Chorizo, Eggs & Avo ($20.90), The French Toast Standard ($19.80), Smashed Avocado & Watermelon ($20.90), to Summer French Toast ($22.50).

The ATLAS Butterscotch Banana Pancake ($19.80) is probably a combination of many favourite things – fluffy pancakes, creamy ice cream, maple glazed cornflakes, butterscotch and caramelised bananas.

For scrambled eggs lovers, get the Gentleman’s Relish ($17.70) soft scrambled eggs, charred san-marzano tomatoes, compound butter, honey mascarpone, sourdough.

The outlet at Scotts Square which is stylishly done up is The Coffee Academics’ first international store.

Good to know: its sourced coffee beans have a score of 92 to 94 points by the World Coffee Review, ranked highest in Asia and top three in the world.

The recommended brunch choice would be The Academics Breakfast ($28) included with Spiced Herb Bratwurst, maple bacon, homemade baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, Halloumi cheese and eggs of your choice, served with toasted brioche and seasonal greens.

With a number of branches around, Kith Cafe is a great place for catching up with friends or having a meeting with business associates over brunch and coffee.

Kith Breakfast ($24.95) is the café’s signature plate of morning comfort, available all day long.

It grants you a couple of options. The bread can be sourdough, gluten-free, multigrain, or brioche. Likewise, you can pick between scrambled, poached, or sunny-side-up eggs.

The standard accompaniments are all present as well. There’s a smoked bratwurst, herby rosemary garlic mushrooms, some crispy bacon, roasted tomatoes, and a handful of mixed greens.

Sarnies

Sarnies, named after a slang for sandwich ‘sarnies’, is a bustling café in the CBD serving hearty breakfasts, massive salads, homemade bakery treats, coffee, and of course, sandwiches.

Using grass-fed beef and chicken free from hormones and antibiotics, the café promises only fresh, quality ingredients in all its dishes. Even its bacon is cured in-house.

Sarnies’ weekday Breakfast of Champions ($17) might not have an original name, but it is indeed a filling meal. You can choose between a steak or smoked salmon and pair it with scrambled eggs, fresh tomatoes, mesclun greens, and guacamole.
