Audio technica ath-m50x vs hyperx cloud 2

Audio technica ath m50x And Kingston hyperx cloud 2 - which is for me?

I only play games and sometimes watching youtube. Having 7.1 is really helpful but having a good quality headphone is also good.

The Hyper X Clouds aren't real 7.1 headphones. I have the Revolver. I like the convenience of a built-in mic and find the sound quality good for my tastes. Audiophiles will tell you the Audio Technicas are better. Just buy from a store with a return policy, and you can make your own decision.

Although it is virtual surround sound, people have find it helpful for better footstep in csgo.

Stay away from headsets from Turtle Beach, Kingston; nothing but junk.
A $40 Logitech G430 will put any from these brands under $150 range, to shame.

Audio Technica however excels at quality!

Any stereo headset can playback virtual surround.

M50x has better sound quality, but no mic. HyperX Cloud 2 has worse sound quality, but a built-in mic.

I'd personally recommend going the headphone with a seperate mic route.

I have the Audio Technica ATH M40X with a soundcard and it sounds so much better and I find is better for games such as csgo than my Razer Krakens 7.1 which I had used before.

And how do you do that?

How do you do what?

Are you asking about virtual surround? Simply install the driver/software for your soundcard. If it does not come with the ability to enable surround, then get software that can. It is still stereo, so it does not require a special soundcard or anything like that. It is all software processing.

Are you asking about headphones with a seperate mic? You can use any pair of headphones with any seperate mic that you want. You can have seperate and multiple audio sources on a PC. If you need help finding a good combo, just let me know and I can help.

So bassically, gaming 7.1 virtual surround sound is just stereo headphones but with 7.1 driver yes?

Pretty much all headphones are stereo. That is a single physical driver in each cup. The surround sound is emulated. Just software emulating the surround sound.

There are a few true surround headsets and headphones out there (with more than one physical driver per cup) but they are not good. With having more drivers, they have to decrease the size of the drivers to get them to fit, which results in little to no low end, missing lower mids, weak mids and tinny highs. Sound positioning can actually be worse than virtual surround. True surround headphones is a good idea in theory, but in execution it is flawed.

I own M30x's and they're the literal definition of quality. Fantastic sound, extremely comfortable, very portable, and extremely durable.
Since the M50x's are a straight upgrade I'd vouch for those.

Is the Audio

Turns out the best headphones also make for the best gaming headphones. The Bottom Line. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50x is a nearly perfect pick for all sorts of gamers, plus it can be a reliable pair of studio monitors for mixing music or listening to your tunes.

What's better than the M50x?

M40x offers everything that M50x, so there is not really much of a difference. The sound quality is definitely better in M50x, but that does not justify the $60 difference in price tag. Also, M40x is not a bad pair of headphones either. They offer good value for your money and have a good set of features.

Is Audio

Yes, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x are absolutely worth it. These headphones are extremely versatile and so regardless of what you use them for (streaming, gaming, listening to music, etc.) you can be assured that you are getting an excellent pair of headphones for a great price.

Is ATH

Consensus/Conclusion. The M50x is a great pair of headphones for bass heads but also works for most genres and even does okay as reference headphones in a pinch. Comfort is hit and miss, but the build quality and longevity here are excellent at the price point and easily make the best headphones for hip-hop list.
