Association of government accountants conference 2023

Greetings everyone! I am honored to serve as the President of the Tallahassee Chapter of the AGA for the 2022-2023 Chapter year.

ADVANCE. GROW. ACCELERATE.

AGA is the association that connects and empowers financial related professionals who support government, from financial management to IT, human resources, cybersecurity and more, to advance good government initiatives, grow their expertise and accelerate their careers.

We connect and empower professionals to help them:

  • Advance sound financial practices, accountability, transparency and excellence in government
  • Grow, learn, excel and engage through a network of likeminded professionals and leaders
  • Accelerate professional careers through learning opportunities and the opportunity to earn a unique credential - the Certified Government Financial Manager, the only credential developed solely with the government financial professional in mind.

Through thought leadership, certification, and national and chapter educational events, AGA remains at the forefront of emerging issues and innovation — driving excellence and transparency in government accountability.

Whether you're leading the way or looking to advance your career, as an AGA member you can expand your expertise and help shape and drive the future of government accountability.

Learn more about the AGA and find additional resources by visiting the National AGA website at www.agacgfm.org

The Tallahassee Chapter offers opportunities to network and earn continuing profession education (CPE) credits that include:

  • Reduced rate monthly luncheons
  • Free webinars
  • Certified Government Financial Manager training
  • Annual 2-day Local Government Training Event
  • Reduced Rate Annual AGA National Professional Development Training Event

We also provide the opportunity to engage with the many available committees such as early careers to mentor college students and community service. Check out the Committees and Chairs link for more information.

My focus, as president this year will be Change Management. I would like to promote involvement, streamline communication, and encourage creativity and innovation. We will work to do the following:

Promote involvement by reducing the cultural tension and focus more on innovation. Create a communication plan by providing clear, consistent messaging, and access to information and supporting resources. I look forward to a successful year and working with everyone! Let’s REFOCUS and continue to suggest ideas for positive change.

If you are not already a member, please consider joining and becoming engaged. Membership will afford you the opportunity to network with others, mentor those new to the field, and expand the footprint for our professionals who support government. Or, if you are already an AGA member, I encourage you to remain engaged.
