Customer Review: TeraFlex Install: JK HD Tie Rod & Drag Link Kit

Customer reviews

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not fit my 2014 JK
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2021

The pressed on tie rod (passenger side) was 1/2" to long (See Pictures). The one installed is the new one thats too long. Theres no way to adjust it because the factory pre-adjust it and then presses it in place. All possible adjustment are turned all the way in and theres no way to get the alignment right. Ive done a few of these with zero issues. There on a 2014 JK.

I gave this set three stars because I was able to install it and not return it but as some of the other reviews state this unit is not made to the proper length. The right side fixed end is crimped 1/2” too far out giving it an overall length that used up all of the adjustment needed for toe angle. When I set my toe angle correctly the adjustable end was completely bottomed out. I was just lucky the fixed end was not off by another turn or I would have had to return it. I was also disappointed that the ends were sealed, no grease fittings to keep them lubed. The drag link part of this set was made well and installed fine, but again no grease fittings.

Product worked great. And was an average tie rod install. My only issue with product was I had to spend an extra $100 on adjusting sleeves to finish install.

Dislike
Had to reuse the adjuster collar off the old tie rods.
Bolt going to steering arm was a bit long and hit the frame.

Would have been nice if adjusting sleeve would have been included.

I will keep it and hang it on the wall of shame for hot garbage

How many tie rod ends does a Jeep Wrangler have?

There are four tie rod ends on most vehicles. The outer tie rod ends — one per side — are most susceptible to wear and failure. If one outer tie rod end has failed, the other is probably not far behind. After the repair is performed the vehicle must be aligned, either on a mobile basis or at a good alignment shop.

How much does it cost to replace Jeep tie rods?

Typically, it costs around $185 to $305 in total, with the new tie rod part costing about $40 to $120 and labor costing around $145 to $185. However, cost estimates can vary from vehicle to vehicle as well as based on which tie rod needs replacement. Tie rods have two parts — the inner tie rod and the outer tie rod.
