So, I went to replace the wiper blades on my 09 Tribeca...

I originally wanted to buy the Bosch Icons for them, because I've used those in my previous cars and loved them. The Tribeca isn't listed for the Icon on the Bosch website.

So, I go to the RainX website and see that the Latitudes are available for the Tribeca...I actually remember seeing those at the dealership, so I went to the dealership (I get 10% off accessories since I bought the car there). I bought them, walked outside to put them on...They don't fit! I must be crazy, because it can't be THAT difficult to put wiper blades on my car, right? So I walk inside and ask for one of the service guys to give it a go...He looked at the wiper and said "Oh, the RainX blades don't work on the Tribeca."

According to the service guy, who seemed to know what he was talking about, Subaru has been using this "old technology" (as he called it) on the Tribecas and not using the newer updated arms/hooks. So I asked what I could get to put on for new wiper blades, and he said "Probably just Subaru ones." If I heard that statement before all my attempts for other blades, I'd think he was pulling my leg, but I'm almost tempted to believe him now.

There has got to be someone else out there that's encountered the same problem before...Anyone? What'd you do?

I did use the search button...Even tried Google advanced search. Haven't found anything with regard to 09 Tribeca blades.

The one thing I've found is that the blades are covered under warranty...So I can get them replaced, but that still doesn't solve my problem of wanting to put winter wipers on.

Did you find anything in search that I didn't? Maybe I'm not searching well enough.

The only place on the web I have been able to locate the rear refill and both driver and passenger refills is www.parts.com. They have a great website with exploded parts views and allow you to order the various components (blades, refills, etc. -- basically anything on the vehicle). The OEM refills were shipped to me by a Subaru dealer in a Subaru cardboard box and packaging.

    2008-2011 Refill PNs and Prices:
    SOA591U326R = $5.52/ea.
    SOA591U220R = $3.79/ea.

    wiper blade refills/inserts

My 08 Tribeca takes 8mm blades (I've managed to replace) on the drivers side...and I think 5 mm on the passenger side. Can anyone confirm the 5 mm. And I'm having a heck-of-a-time finding them. Tried Autozone, Advance Auto, etc and no one carries the right size...if they carrier refills at all.

Further, the arms are different widths. I won't ask why.
Can anyone give me a part number for one piece blade assemblies (like Bosch) that will fit driver and passenger arms?

Hope this thread is still active.

    Thanks,

I have a 2007 Tribeca. The wiper blades work well until it snows. You can only buy inserts. I replaced the wiper arm's with 2008. The Passenger Blade (20”): is a standard replacement.
Michelin 5020 Stealth Wiper Blade - 20" Fit and worked well.

The driver's side is not a standard fit the arm is wider and deeper. I ame looking for a good fix.

I too just discovered the wiper blade issue on my 08' tribeca. I was able to install a Bosch Icon 20A on the passenger side but would really like one for the driver side. I really want an Icon on the driver side.

Who knows what size hook is the 06-07, is it the universal size? as I have the 09 and want to replace them to fit different blades also.

You are right, I just purchased Goodyear blades and their manual states the sizes are 20" and 26" in Costco, I went to put them on and I was dumfounded as I could not figure out the installation. The only way is to to either change the blades only or replace the wipers with Subaru blades only or you can change the entire arm itself from another Subaru with a connecting hook..thats what I was told..good luck..

Over here (UK) Bosch do a standard 20" blade that fits the 06/07 model and a 26" truck blade called the N65 that fits the oe 06/07 wiper arm. We don't have any later models here so I'm not sure of the later fitments.
I have a couple of the N65 blades in the garage but have abandoned them because Bosch must have changed blade material. The ones I have jump and hop all over the screen.
I've moved back to PIAA refills - they work a treat.

    Hello all

I think I may have found a new style wiper blade that will fit the Driver Side wiper arm! When I say new style I am referring to the Bosch Icon type one piece wiper blade. Credit goes to RockAuto.com for suggesting the Motorcraft WW-2601-P wiper. Doing a little research shows this is a Ford sourced wiper blade.

While RockAuto did not have a good picture of the wiper, Amazon.com has a slightly better picture, in addition I was able to find a youtube video for it. Jump to 1:30 to see the instructor attach this wiper to the large hook.

I just ordered it from Amazon and will update this post when I get the new wiper.

The snap to fit (trico?) do work as refills perfectly, and they are cheap!

True and it comes with two refills! I just put in a fresh Trico last week. But with winter coming, it would be nice to have a wiper arm that does not trap snow and ice.

Agreed, I didn't see the refills mentioned in my quick browse through this topic, so I though that I would point it out. Sounds like you are all over it.

    Quick Update:

We will have to wait a bit longer. Amazon sent the wrong blades, they sent me a Bosch Micro edge 16" wiper...

    Update #2

Well I am sorry to report the Motorcraft WW-2601-P uses the smaller hooks and does NOT fit the driver's side arm. And the bad part is, it is a conventional wiper blade. Nothing ventured nothing gained...

    Update #3

Ok, looking around Amazon, I think I have a winner! Rain-X 5079281 Latitude 8-In-1 This one does mention an adapter for Large J hooks. Reordering and I will update this when I get the Rain-X.

What size windshield wipers do I need for 2009 Subaru Tribeca?

    Notes: 14" wiper blade.

Which wiper blade is the driver side?

In some designs, the driver's side is the longer blade and the passenger side is the shorter blade, and in other designs, it is reversed . If you replace your car wiper blades, make sure to use the same size as indicated by your car manufacturer to get the best viewing area for the driver.

Are driver side and passenger side wipers different sizes?

Wiper sizes are indicated in millimeters, noting if the wiper set is for the front or rear of the car. Blades on the driver's side extend longer than the passenger side to provide the best visibility for the person behind the steering wheel.

How do I know what size is my windshield wiper?

Use a tape measure to determine the length of the wiper blade along the rubber wiper edge. Round to the nearest inch, and there you go—you've got your wiper blade length!
