The zingo mod is what you want, go to audirevolution and look in the DIY section for thr 3.0 at the air box mod. It does a tiny bit of gain because the stock air box already works so good but it does give it more air flow. So with that and all the mods from JHM is the best gains you will see for the 3.0

That is not a cold air intake. That is a hot air intake, which sucks in hot air from the engine bay, and decreases performance. Due to the decrease of intake runner length, air enters more easily at high RPM, thus giving more horsepower up top. You don't gain anything. You simply shift it. At the gain of HP up top, you lose TQ down low, which for most of us, is more important as torque is a valuable commodity that is used every day, on commuter cars that spend most of their time at low RPMs. The driver will also get a false sensation of speed and power because the above intake will probably make cool noises, whereas the stock intake is meant to be somewhat quiet - as the B6 is an entry-level

    luxury

    sedan.

The stock intake is a "cold air intake" because it sucks in "cold air" from the outside of the car, through the grill opening you can see in your picture, which is not used as much by the ebay intake.

Maybe it's beneficial to do such a set-up on an FI engine, but I have tried messing with my 3.0L intake (such as by removing the silencer) and my mods have only hurt the car. It didn't take long for me to revert to stock. Yes, it seemed faster because of the new and enjoyable noise, but power and MPG was lost.

Take it with a grain of salt though, just an opinion and a non-professional one at that.

Thanks for the response! And for sharing your knowledge. That's kind of what I was after as well. Just to kind of mess around and have a cool noise for shits and giggles. Did it decrease fuel economy greatly? and if I just used it for maybe a month until I get annoyed could it cause any damage?

I installed somthing similar to that intake and am combining both the stock and homemade intake together, I'll post a pic of it after I'm finished but this is it now. Sounds cool, top end is def sick but I heard that you get the best of both worlds when they're combined.

I still get the same mpg, about 300 miles on a tank. But the tq is def effected. Top is there, was side by side with a b6 3.0L that had a cat back from 55mph to 100mph. Still as a daily driver on low rpm commutes it's not cool to have civics keep up with you lol, really though it's not that noticeable

That is exactly what I want. are the effects worth the tq loss?

I put it like this, it looks and sounds cool but you lose low end tq. If you want horse power and quick 1/4 mile passes then the 3.0L b6 wasn't the best choice to go with in my opinion. Mind you opinions are like assholes everyone has one lol. Unless you have a ton of money your willing to dump into it then the only mods worth doing are intake, exhaust(cat back), and maybe a chip. So with that being said I would really read into the DIY air intakes, utilize the stock airbox and go from there. Good luck!

I get 330-410mi per tank. I wonder if our difference in mileage is due to the differences in intakes, or something else.

If getting more power is as easy as cutting something with a box-cutter, and closing up a hole with some epoxy (which you can buy at Autozone for $3), then why didn't Audi do that to the cars in the first place.

    I don't know.

"When air is forced into a cavity, the pressure inside increases. When the external force pushing the air into the cavity is removed, the higher-pressure air inside will flow out. The cavity will be left at a pressure slightly lower than the outside, causing air to be drawn back in. This process repeats with the magnitude of the pressure changes decreasing each time.

The air in the port (the neck of the chamber) has mass. Since it is in motion, it possesses some momentum. A longer port would make for a larger mass, and vice-versa. The diameter of the port is related to the mass of air and the volume of the chamber. A port that is too small in area for the chamber volume will "choke" the flow, while one that is too large in area for the chamber volume tends to reduce the momentum of the air in the port."

    Clicky

I usually run 92-93 octane, maybe that? Idk could be stop and go traffic, or highway.... Intake could def be the reason

Thank you for all the help first off! I am not into the performance as much as I am the show.. don't get me wrong, I would love coilovers, full brand new exhaust etc. Etc. But having this as my first car as a kid in high school... I want it to look and sound cool lol. Like you said.. If I wanted something fast I wouldn't have bought a 3.0 lol! I chose the audi because it's prestigious. Long story short THANK YOU haha
Btw. New exhaust is probably in my future lol oem is about to rust off!

The 3.0 WILL NOT benefit from a CAI. Keep your stock intake and do the zingo mod. The 3.0- already gets the most amount of air that it can deal with. Call JHM and ask if they are running a CAI on their 3.0 (which should be your goal to copy this car). 100% chance that they are running the stock intake and maybe a 50% chance of them running the zingo mod with the stock intake.

However, if you want to waste your money on an intake that you dont need and wont make improvements, go right ahead.

WASTE OF TIME. I promise. I tried it and left it behind. What I did though was smooth out the inside of the intake box to make it sound louder and replaced the hose that connects to the TB. This wil a K&N filter will help for sure.

^^ Exactly Jorge....I tried to tell these kids that but they didn't wanna hear it. They think this is the fast and furious or something.

Jeenyus so your saying you think you know more than the tuner of JHM? because he backed this mod and agreed it provided better air flow and he is arguably the best tuner for Audi's hands down

JHM mods are the ONLY mods that should ever be put on the 3.0, EVERYTHING else out there has just been made to make money with no intention of actual street application and REAL WORLD GAINS, NOT #'s on a dyno which prove nothing that the car got any faster.

What are you talking about? I am talking about a CAI being a waste of time and it is.
