Simple tutorial on how to reset the Oil Change Reminder Indicator Warning Light on Dodge Caravan (CV, SE, SXT) from year 2008-2009-2010-2011-2012-2013-2014-2015-2016-2017-2018-2019-2020.
STEP 1
- Close all doors. Turn the Ignition ON. Don’t start the engine.
STEP 2
- After the Beep, Fully depress the GAS PEDAL slowly three times within 10 seconds Make sure to depress the pedal all the way down.
STEP 3
- Then Turn ON the Car Engine to verify the indicator has been reset. Repeat this procedure, if the message still illuminates when you start the engine.

Let me show you in this short content how to reset the oil life light which is on this 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. I’ve just done an engine oil change, but the maintenance interval is not reset so let’s observe. So this is what should you do:
- Stop the vehicle and turn the ignition
switch to the RUN position without starting the engine
You don’t need to have the engine running to do this, so press the ENGINE START STOP button twice without touching the brake pedal
- Fully depress the GAS PEDAL slowly three times within 10 seconds

So a couple of basic things you’ll need to be able to perform your oil service, the most important of which, of course, is your engine oil. The Grand Caravan 3.6 V6 takes 5w-20 synthetic oil, and the capacity is 5.6 liters. Always try and get the best quality oil that you can. If you can afford it, go with one of the big-name brands. The excellent oil will help prevent wear and tear on your car, so get the best you can.
Same with the oil filter. I get the best one that your budget will allow and ensure it’s the correct one for your vehicle. It’s a pervasive engine, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting the correct one for your car.
The other optional thing is that we’ll also be replacing the oil drain plug. These are probably four or five dollars, so it’s just as easy to get one of these washers getting your filter and replace it with an excellent brand new one last year, probably another ten years.
