Hello, I recently updated Zoom and now I can't screen share. I'm following these directions that I'm finding online...On Macs, you need to go to System Preferences, Privacy and Security, click on the [ Privacy ] tab, choose 'Screen Recording' on the left side and add the application Zoom here. All screen sharing apps must be added under the Screen Recording privacy section.
But in the Privacy settings under Screen Recording, the "Zoom" option is grayed out and I can't click on it to enable Zoom. I've tried reinstalling Zoom, restarting the computer, all the tricks I can think of...any ideas?
I spent quite sometime figuring this out, and the problem was sooo silly and simple.
Writing this so that no other people have to waste time on this.
Problem I was facing :
When I tried to share my screen with Zoom it asked for screen sharing permissions. You’ll see something like this :
And when you open the system preferences and navigate to screen sharing permissions, Zoom app is not in the list (If you see it, voila! you’re lucky, just enable it and go go… ). Like this :
What you have to do in this situation is a VERY BASIC and SIMPLE STEP : UPDATE THE APP!!! Voila!
You can thank me later.. ;)
Btw going off-topic for all quarantined office people,
Recently, I switched from iOS to Android. And I was missing Apple’s Continuity feature. Where I could easily make or receive phone calls on Mac, get access OTPs, messages quickly on my Mac.
I noticed I was ending up landing social media or hacker-news :D spending hours every-time I picked up my phone for a call(there’re a lot in this work from home situation).
And then after spending a day, going through a lot of spam! I noticed this app on App Store called “Connecton”. I’m surprised why was it hard to find it.
Putting out loud, so that I can save someone’s time who needs this.

Modifying this control will update this page automatically

I am trying to do a screenshare in ZOOM.
every time I start to initiate a screenshare, I get a message steering me to the system preferences.
I get the screen below, but as you can see, there is NOT an option to add another app into this list!
does anyone know HOW I would do that, tell the system to give permission for ZOOM to access the screen?
also: this may be a bug of the MAC OS CATALINA
* using my older MacBook Air, running MOJAVE, I WAS able to successfully screenshare.
* and I was doing so with a friend who was running an iMac that was also using a MOJAVE system.
Conclusion: this works with MOJAVE but not CATALINA.
Help! can anyone figure out a way to make it work using CATALINA?
September 6, 2021 If you have updated your Mac Operating System to macOS 10.14 Mojave or later, you need to authorize your computer to give permission to Zoom to use the computer’s microphone and camera, share the screen, or allow others to remotely control your desktop. This is due to increased security permissions in Mac Operating System. After upgrading the macOS, you will be prompted to authorize Zoom to use the microphone and camera. Please OK during the initial
request. Please keep in mind, If you do not allow Zoom access during this initial prompt, you will need to go into your Mac System Preferences to enable access.
Please take the following steps to adjust your Mac’s security settings after upgrading your Mac Operating System to avoid permissions issues in Zoom:
1- Click the Apple logo at the top left corner of your screen.
2- Click System Preferences.
3- Click Security & Privacy.
4- Select the Privacy tab
6- Enter your OS administrator username and password.
7- Click Unlock.
8- In the Privacy tab, click on Camera on the left, then in the right menu, find zoom.us and click on the box next to it.
9- Repeat the same action for Microphone, Screen Recording, and Accessibility.
10- Quit System Preferences
11- Quit Zoom and open again to apply the changes.
Now you can use your Mac’s Camera and Microphone in Zoom and allow others to remotely control your computer if necessary.

Thank you.
