You Need Me, I Don't Need You Lyrics

Now I'm in town, break it down, thinking of making a new sound
Playing a different show every night in front of a new crowd
That's you now, hello, ciao, seems that life is great now
See me lose focus as I sing to you loud
I can't, no, I...

He is singing to the music industry saying that he writes his own songs and doesn't need them to tell him what to do. He made it on his own and he's a big star now.

I'm pretty sure this song is about Ed becoming famous and dealing with the music industry. The labels need him to make money but he doesn't really need them. I also think it has a lot to do with the fact that he won't change to become successful. People wanted him to change the color of his hair and change his music in order to become more famous. I think its about him and how he is ready to show the world that he is going to be himself and not pose as anyone else. I'm in love with this song because its meaning is so genuine and unique.

I think he is saying that if he got this far, why would be need anyone now? I'm almost surprised he signed to a label because he was doing so well on his own. He's trying to say, "hey look at all I've done without all of you!"

This song is about how one of Ed's ex-managers told him to dye his hair a different colour and finish with using a Loop Pedal

Songs can have multiple different meanings. In this case, Ed could be talking about a lover who he maybe just broke up with, or about what other people said told him he should do- Change his hair, change his way of composing songs, changing HIM. Ed Sheeran uses this song to imply that the companies and managing 'needs him' but he doesn't need them. Awesome, Ed.

Maybe it is looking at not judging a book by it's cover. "Didn't go to BRIT school" yet he can still produce amazing songs that thousands of people love xxx

I must agree with the previous comments but when I first heard the song I felt something much deeper I don't know what it was but it was there. It might have had something to do with the video, I don't know but I will do when I put my finger on the feeling.

The meaning of this song is in your face really. It's possibly about the music industry, wanting him, so they can use him, to make money, but he can make his own music. '..names on the credits but you didn't write noffin'' is there because the music industry, not naming any for confidentiality reasons but they write the music, and then the singers use all their hard work and show it off like the singr themself wrote it. Ed is capable of making his own music and selling it perfectly. Nice going Ed <3

Other people in the music industry need him but he creates his own work, he writes and sings his own songs. 'I sing, I write my own tune and I write my own verse, hell Don't need another wordsmith to make the tune sell Call yourself a singer-writer You're just bluffing Name's on the credits Said you didn't write nothing'
