I agree with JudyG about the red.
Another color that looks wonder with brick is green. You could go with a muted green apple or olive green for a nice contrast.

Thank you for the recommendations! I am leaning towards the red hopefully it does not look as pinkish as on my monitor.

Wait, not turquoise? I think that would look great!

I am a HUGE fan of yellow doors on darker colored homes that blend with the landscape like yours does. It is not the played out red door, but creates the excitement much like it. As people walk to the door it creates an exciting feeling that is inviting and invigorating.

Jean, it is a pink red, no doubt about it, but it is also a Historic color, so it is warm and soft. BM also suggest using it with browns. I had it on the front door of my antique house for years. People would ring the bell to ask the color.
It is so gorgeous and I don't know why it isn't more popular...probably because people think it is too lipstick and it is not.

Take a look at Benjamin Moore's "Country Redwood" which is very close to Frank Lloyd Wright's favorite color "Cherokee Red".

For a sophisticated yet updated arts n craft cottage look, try painting all window trim and front door in brilliant white or in a medium warm gray. You could also paint the porch steeped overhang face and columns in same color if desired. The white or gray trim onto the dark wood tones of the siding will make everything pop with freshness and will tie-in nicely with your entry path. You might also try changing the side lanterns for some ultra modern elongated type deco-inspired lamps featuring brushed nickel and frosted white glass. Also try modern brushed nickel steel house numbers or oval plaque in white with black numbers for a classic look, as well as a brushed nickel mailbox. Painting the garage door will lighten the entire house but seems like it might be a task to maintain, so I leave that entirely to your discretion. To add additional WOW try adding a cupola in white or gray to your right chimney escape and brushed nickel solar path lights alongside entire pathway. Just charming! Enjoy!

Your first thought was the best. Teal would look terrific, and be perfect for a lake house.
Hi, all -- Our house is what I call "Oreo brown" -- very dark brown with white trim. We need to replace our front door because it has cracked and has other problems, and we're going with a Therma-Tru fiberglass door. The question is: Do we have it painted white like our current door & trim, or do we go with a wood stain color, or do we do something completely different? I'm awful with colors and can't picture anything but white going with this brown. I can't even picture a wood tone I'd like with this brown. What do you think? I would so appreciate your advice with this. Thank you!
