The Southern Nevada Sons of Erin and Paradigm Production Group proudly present the Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival in Henderson, NV. This three day event will take place on the Henderson Events Plaza on Water Street in downtown Henderson, and includes carnival rides and games, food and craft vendors, live entertainment every day, a Kid's Carnival and Safety Zone, a 21-and-over Irish Rock n' Roll Beer Garden, and more. ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE, DUBLIN, 2022 

Join us on streets of Dublin for the highly anticipated return of the spectacular national St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Thursday March 17.  

Winding its way through the streets of Dublin, from Parnell Square to the Cuffe Street / Kevin Street Junction, the national St. Patrick's Day Parade returns after a two year absence, delighting the hundreds and thousands who will gather.  

Over the last six months, hundreds of Ireland’s most dynamic and innovative performers, musicians, designers, choreographers, pageant engineers, artists and makers have been working on delivering Ireland’s most ambitious street Parade ever, in creativity, scale, length and participant numbers.  

The Parade will be broadcast live on RTÉ, produced by Coco Content for RTÉ, and promises an exciting new look and feel for millions of viewers in Ireland and across the world. 

The 2022 Parade will be a fresh, ambitious, bold new vision for both makers and audiences alike, with new pageant participants and bigger creative builds, featuring audience interaction and breathtaking new artistic elements, and a battalion of world-class marching bands.  

No tickets are required for you to attend the St. Patrick's Day Parade. Simply pick a spot along the route and enjoy the spectacle and excitement! Marching Bands

• Awesome Second Time Arounders

  From: Florida

  The Second Time Arounders are a unique American community marching band representing the greater St. Petersburg Florida area and Tampa Bay. We are doctors, plumbers, retail workers, educators, salespeople, chemists, engineers, housewives/ husbands, students, and retirees who participate in the band, and this sport, for the sheer joy of marching and performing “a second time around.” Our members range in age from 18-82. Formed thirty-eight years ago when current director Bill Findeison placed an ad in the newspaper looking for a few former high school band members to form a band for the St. Petersburg Festival of States Parade, and was amazed with the response!  

  From that first 80-piece band, the Rounders still marches 45 of those original members. Typically around 400 members, the band marched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2008 with 512 performers and again just this past November (2019) with 440 performers in the parade (scaled-back at Macy’s request!). In 2008, we were the largest band to ever be in that parade. 

• Clondalkin Youth Marching Band​

  32nd Time performing in Dublin Parade,a testament to the magnificent musical work of their long-standing Director Mr. Vincent Dolan, along with the support of volunteers and parent committees over the years.   

  
  Proud of their Clondalkin roots, they will parade in their own Clondalkin Parade in the afternoon. They will aslo travel to Limerick for the International Band Competition.  

  
  A lively band who travel all over Europe to festivals and competitions.  

  Fundraising: Local Fundraising is nonstop throughout the year in order to maintain the high standards of this fine large Irish Marching Band. Many Raffles, Quiz & Bingo nights, Coffee Mornings, Bag Packing along with huge local support from the people of Clondalkin keep the band financed.  

• Artane Band

  The Artane Band has been in existence since 1872 and has played at more All Ireland finals than any player in the world! Previously known as the Artane Boys Band, the band was an all male band for 130 years, only allowing females to join in 2002.  

  In 1998 the Band were invited to perform in U2’s video The Sweetest Thing and they have played alongside artists such as Bing Crosby and Bon Jovi.  

• Wylie High School Band​

  The award-winning Wylie High School Band is a scholastic instrumental music program at Wylie High School, in Wylie, TX just north of Dallas, TX. The marching band has a history of distinction by advancing to the Texas State Marching Championships several times, as well as being awarded Grand Champion or finishing in the top 3 at most marching festivals. The concert band program is one of the top in the nation, and has performed at The Midwest Clinic, International Band and Orchestra Conference in December of 2017.  

  The band has also had multiple appearances in New York, with 2 performances in Carnegie Hall in 2010 and 2016, as well as a 2019 performance at Lincoln Center in Alice Tully Hall. In addition, the band has been invited and performed 3 times at the Music For All National Concert Band Festival. In addition, the band is a 3-time Texas State Honor Band Finalist. The percussion program has been invited and performed at the PASIC convention in 2012 and the Color Guard program has been a top 3 finalist for Winter Guard International and a State Champion for the North Texas Color Guard Association. 

• Cedar Rapids Metro Band

  The Cedar Rapids Metro marching bands involve the greatest number of students grades 9-12, perfecting and performing complex and entertaining shows.  The marching bands participate in several marching shows each year and enjoy recognition for overall best winds, best color guard, best percussion and best drum major multiple times in addition to top placement awards in local and state competitions. The bands travel extensively throughout the United States and have been featured in numerous parades and festivals including the Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Holiday Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, and Citrus Bowl parades.  

  In 2013 the bands combined to form a unified metro marching band which traveled to Dublin, Ireland to participate in the St. Patrick’s Day parade and the Limerick Marching Band festival.  Known for their entertaining shows and crowd-pleasing music the students of the Cedar Rapids Metro Band are welcome wherever they go.  

• Hardin Simmons University ​Marching Cowboy Band 

  From: Texas

  The “World Famous” Cowboy Band is an ensemble rich in history and tradition and has been an important part of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, and Texas since its inception in April 1923. Presenting some 35 performances annually, it is the most widely seen and heard musical ensemble in West Central Texas! They have traveled throughout the United States and the world and performed at seven Presidential inaugural events.

  This is their first overseas trip since 2002! While marching at a fast cadence of 200-plus beats per minute the band shuffles into view, whooping, hollering, and waving their hats in the air! Their leather chaps move in smooth unison as the band seems to float along.

  The Band’s musical selections include The Eyes of Texas, Deep in the Heart of Texas, the HSU Anthem March and Hey, Baby!  

• University of Illinois Marching Illini 

  From: Illinois 
  Director: Barry L. Houser

  In the 1920s, John Philip Sousa called the Illinois Band “the world’s greatest college band.”

  Superlatives like this have come to be expected during the long and illustrious history of the University of Illinois Bands. Continually at the forefront of great university marching bands, the Marching Illini was awarded the prestigious Louis Sudler Intercollegiate Marching Band Trophy in 1983 in recognition of its many outstanding achievements.

  In 1992, the Marching Illini was the first college marching band to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. The band returned to Ireland in 1995, 1998, 2008, 2014, 2018. 

• Morrisons Academy Scottish Pipe Band 

  From: Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland

  Morrison’s Academy, established in 1860, is an independent school located in Perthshire, Scotland. Today the school has over 500 pupils. The Morrison’s Academy Pipe Band, which was formed in 1921, has always been a very important and popular co-curricular activity within the school. Today, more than one in seven pupils take tuition in a pipe band instrument. We currently have 31 pupils who perform and compete with our A Band. We also have a B Band with 25 members and a Celtic fusion band called Feoras. 

  Director Scott Murray, is a very experienced piper with over 30 years of competing experience with Grade 1 Bands. He was the Pipe Major with Perth & District Band for six years and has played with the Duke of Atholl’s Private Army Pipe Band for the last 14 years.

  In recent years, The Band have made a number of trips to play high-level events in Hong Kong, New York, Oman and Dublin. We have led the Tartan Day Parade in New York City, joined the Hong Kong Police Band, and played at the British Embassy in Dublin. In 2019 we were delighted to take part in the St Patrick’s Day Parade and also travelled to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The Band has also performed at the opening ceremony of the Solheim Cup at Gleneagles in 2019, and more recently at the COP26 Climate summit in Glasgow. 

  The Band also fulfils a number of local and national commitments. As well as traditional school events such as Sports Day and Speech Day, we are also invited to regularly perform at many local events including the annual Crieff Highland Gathering and Crieff Remembrance Day Parade. We had the honour of leading the Crieff Highland Gathering Chieftain’s Parade in 2017. Members of our Band participate each year in the Massed Scottish Schools Beating the Retreat at Edinburgh Castle. During COVID lockdowns our pipers could be heard each Thursday night playing from their doorsteps in support of the NHS and during the national VE Day 75th celebrations. 

• Mullingar Town Band 

  From: Westmeath 
  Director: Kim Magee

  The Mullingar Town Band was founded in 1879 but can trace its roots as far back as the 1840s. The local military barracks supplied many of the early members who themselves were serving members of the British Regimental bands stationed in Mullingar. Many of the members of these bands settled in the town and married locally and joined the band.                              
  The M.C.B. (Mullingar Confraternity Band) remained under the auspices of the Confraternity until the 1940’s when it was handed over to a committee who continued under the title of Mullingar Brass and Reed Band. It was 1957 when band director emeritus, Hubert Magee was handed the baton with just three to four members remaining in the band.  

  From here, Hubert studied and researched banding both nationally and internationally and basing his teaching on the American Band model he eventually turned the band around to achieving a band of over 100 members strong in 1979 – just in time for the bands centenary celebrations. Under the directorship of Hubert, the band achieved many ‘firsts’ I their history – introducing female membership, the first time travelling abroad, first time winning major national competitions. In 2014, after 57 years of Directorship, Hubert handed over the baton to his daughter, Kim Magee – Band Director and Hubert was bestowed the title of Band Director Emeritus by the committee of Mullingar Town Band.  

• Spirit of 52 Marching Band

  Founded 1952 as traditional German “Spielmannszug” we transformed through Marching Band to DBC. 

  Over the last 10 years we participated in the DCE Championships and hold top ten in Europe for years. In 2018 we reached the German Championship, 2019 we scored second Our Drumline won two national Drumline Battles in 2019 (both DCI sanctioned) The same year we performed at the Parade in Disneyland Paris after completing a video audition of the Disney Performing Arts program. 

• Pride of Dayton Marching Band 

  From: Ohio

  Under the direction of Kenneth Will, the Pride of Dayton Marching Band is a Show Band from the University of Dayton. Since 1905, the Pride of Dayton has entertained fans at football games, band festivals, and parades across the state of Ohio. Recognized for their energetic parade dances and powerful halftime performances, the Pride of Dayton is comprised of over 150 students from a wide variety of majors and who represent more than 15 different states across the country. 

• University of North Texas 

  From: Texas

  The North Texas Green Brigade Marching Band, under the direction of Prof. Daniel Cook, enjoys a reputation for high quality musical and visual performances, and is the largest spirit organization at the University of North Texas.

  The ensemble performs at a variety of athletic events throughout the year and is often the featured exhibition group at marching competitions and community performances. The Green Brigade was founded in 1936 as the “Eagle Band” with just 30-members. Performing as a military-style marching band, the Eagle Band sought to provide pedagogical skills for music education students in the North Texas State Teachers College who aspired to teach high school. 

  During the 1960s, the group shifted from the military-style to corps-style marching to better engage and entertain football fans and was re-branded the “Mean Green Marching Machine. ”The moniker “Green Brigade” was adopted in 1982 and remains to this day. It is a name that simultaneously reflects the ensemble’s collegial atmosphere and strong identity of corps-style performance. 

• The Corning-Painted Post Hawks Marching Band 

  From: New York 
  Director: Joseph Stork

  Colours: Black, Gold 
  

  The Corning-Painted Post Hawks Marching Band is from Corning, New York and is under the  New York State School Music Association. Additionally, the Hawks have performed in the Norfolk direction of Mr. Donald Allen and Mr. Joseph Stork.

  This Band of roughly 150 students represents the Corning-Painted Post Area School District. The Band has had two National Spelling Bee Champions as members and hails from the 'Crystal City" known as Corning, NY, home of Corning Incorporated and the world-famous Corning Museum of Glass. 

Pageant Companies

• Connect + Inspire by Aches

  Supported by Kia Ireland, Connect and Inspire, by Irish artist Aches, is a response to the Festival and Parade theme 'Connections'.

  In his moving sculptural creation, Aches' captures life, change, perspectives and  evolution through the presentation of giant transparent dancers layered with colour, yet change at various viewpoints, offering the audience new perspectives and points of inspiration. The artist takes inspiration from his youthful trips to the Gaeltacht and evenings spent in the céilí hall as people came together to socialise and have fun through the mediums of dance and music.

  Meanwhile, real life dancers led by choreographer Deirdre Griffin (Headonbody) respond to Aches' design and theme of connections with contemporary movement, in costumes that reflect the colours of the float, colours that interact with the dance creating new colours with each movement.

• Heroes

  Our Heroes theme leads off with Adam King, famous for his love of space, launching his virtual hugs far and wide in his own parade space shuttle accompanied by one of his own personal heroes and surrounded by astronauts, aliens and stars.

  In his wake is our own green planet beautifully clad in drawings, photos and letters created by the people of Ireland in celebration of the heroes that helped them make it through the pandemic.

  Let’s hear it for the real Superstars of the Pandemic, the frontline workers who did all they could to keep us safe as we give them all a great big virtual hug.

  Performers will come from Cork and Sinead Sheppar’s Dance School.

• Irish Sports

  Bui Bolg Outdoor Arts led by Artistic Director Colm Lowney celebrates Irish Sports with a spectacular theme of the sports we love to play - and to watch. 

  Featuring floats and dancers, it focuses  on the fact that all ages and abilities across the community love and enjoy sport, from the armchair fans to the athletes and players across sports including ball sports, bat and racket sports, boxers and runners.

• Spirit of the Sea

  Caibleadh (pronounced Kabloo) are the spirit voices heard in the distance at sea on calm nights and is a parade inspired by Manchán Magan’s book “Sea Tamagotchi” a collection of Irish coastal words.

  The pageant includes large Sea Spirit characters and a host of Celtic Sea Spirit dancers and celebrates the rich depth of cultural heritage and knowledge that are held within the Irish language.

• Acceptance and Love

  A gigantic rainbow and decorated hands and hearts symbolise the beauty of acceptance and love as we celebrate the diversity of the community that we are all a part of. 

  Featuring community groups from across the country we join together to present this uplifting colourful reflection of the diverse communities throughout Ireland. We are thrilled to present a Varda Wagon representing the work of Pavee Point Traveller & Roma Centre, exquisite dancers from around the world including Bharatanatyam,  the most popular and oldest classical dance tradition in India; the sway and glamour of Samba Dance Brazil including an array of international communities who now call Ireland home, from Lithuania, Poland, Venezuela, Moldova and Bolivia.  We are delighted to again work with the fantastic Cecilian Theatre Arts, Castleknock's well established and award winning school run by Director Jennifer O’Dowd assisted by her Mum Rosalind.

• Celebrating Irish Entertainment

  Spraoi’s theme of arts and entertainment is represented by five bird creations with each one of these  beautiful birds representing a specific music genre or artform.

  The Raven

  This piece will reference literature the performers and soundtrack will tie into the feel and look of this one. This one will have a gothic type feel and maybe referance Edgar Allen Poe built into the soundtrack.

  The Punk

  This section will have spiky persona and look drawing inspiration from Vivienne Westwood Mohicans tartan etc. This piece references live music youth subculture .

  The Parrot

  This piece draws on visual Arts for its inspiration . The performance element will reinforce this aesthetic.
  

  Madam Butterfly

  This large winged structure takes inspiration from Opera as is the title. The wings reference will resemble Junk Sails or Jappanese Parasols . The sountrack will also reinforce the concept.
  

  The Swallow

  This piece will reference Dance The large piece will be all white and will be very graceful . Tipping towards Ballet .

• Inclusion

  Beyond protest or celebration, Pride connects people, it creates communities, and it is these communities that create spaces where everyone can be included and belong. 

  Our pageant is the story of inclusion. It also references the connection between queer culture and the world of nightclubs and dance and the return of those spaces to our community.   

  Dublin LGBTQ+ Pride is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in society and championing equality for all. We are best known for the annual Dublin Pride Parade which we have run since 1983, the Parade is a celebration of LGBTQ+ people and culture.

• Youth and Resilience

  Rooting For You by Cork Puppetry Company directs the spotlight on whatconnects us all, from the micro to the macro, from the youth's spoken words to the intertwined roots of the World Tree, celebrating life itself, resilience of our brave young Irish people who have been courageous over the past few years but also to celebrate our Irish youth for their passions, skills, talent and drive to stand for their rights & support of each other. 

  Exploring the world of Humanity, looking at the Skies and at the Earth's interconnections.

• Floating Water Garden

  A new partnership with Waterways Ireland see this pageant on the water celebrate the many connections our waterways offer us as a nation, threading together the four corners of Ireland.  

  The nations waters are the beating artery of our cities and our nation, bringing us together through a tapestry of wild biodiversity as seen in this large-scale colourful installation that celebrates the spirit of life on the water and the significance of experiences it has witnessed throughout history.

• The Joyce-Cycle

  The Dublin Cycling Campaign is delighted to be back in the parade again this year with Joyce-Cycle under the artistic direction of Donna Cooney. We are back bigger and bolder with over one hundred and twenty cyclists of all ages. 

  With James Joyce’s Ulysses as the theme on the one hundredth anniversary, we take spectators on our epic journey by bicycle, illustrating the places en route taken by Leopold Bloom; see if you can spot the references to Dublin locations.

  Molly Bloom’s soliloquy and bed by bicycle will be central with the many cycling Molly Blooms creating their favourite quotes.... "the sun shines for you today, yes", "the sea crimson sometimes", and "I was the flower of the mountain...yes".

• The Family Geansaí

  Nine siblings in one jumper, the Geansaí family are a tight-knit crew. Bound together by a stitch in time, trad music and a comical rhyme, they walk and weave the highroads and byroads of the Emerald Isle. 

  Social distancing has kept them apart, but the feast of St. Patrick will bring them back together. They’ll don the world’s largest Aran jumper for the biggest gig of the year!

  Be sure you don’t miss Paddy, Patsy, Pa, Páidí, Podge, Pádraig, Pádraigín, Pat and Patrica as they celebrate their namesake in a geansaí with eighteen sleeves, 900,542 stitches and the warmth of their Mammy knitted into its very fabric.

  Dublin Circus Project Ltd. is a resource organisation for the Circus Arts founded in 2009. Our mission is to develop and support circus artists, train youth & create opportunities for the new generation of circus artists, enact social change, enable our wider community to express itself through the arts, and advocate for the circus arts throughout Ireland.

  Dublin Circus Project has stilt walkers, acrobats, unicyclist and a hat juggler for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Dublin Circus Project is under the management of Noelle Killius, Richard Brennan (Director Chair), Ebru Reilly (Director), Mary Weir (Director), Alcarine Power (Director), Robert Kiernan (Director). Our Parade Show was created under the Artistic Direction of Peter Moran and Aoife Raleigh.
