Fashioned after television’s Jeopardy show, this not-to-be-missed event gives area residents a chance get to test their knowledge and skills in a lightning fast game that features local and regional facts and lore.  You’re provided the answers, so let’s see if you can come up with the questions — first!

It’s become one of the most anticipated community events of the year and we’re excepting another sell-out crowd at the Brickyard banquet room on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 6:30pm.

This is your chance to participate in the Historical Association’s “fun”draiser, so get your reservations in early.

HOW TO MAKE RESERVATIONS

Just call the Lewiston Museum at 716-754-4214.  If we’re not there, leave a message and we’ll call you back.  And yes, you can charge your reservations over the phone.  Donation is $45 per person and includes a beer, or soft drink, and pizza.

A cash bar will be open.  A raffle will give away cash prizes while a live auction will showcase some amazing, and surprising, rarities.

THE TEAMS

In addition to the general audience, a portion of the contest will feature four teams competing for trophies. The contestants come from diverse backgrounds and bring over 700+ years of combined Lewiston experience to the event and all are recognized for their love of Lewiston and their in-depth knowledge about the area’s past and present. They have been involved in numerous civic endeavors and have proven their “street cred” in working to make Lewiston one of the best small towns in America.

The 2-time undefeated champion, Sandy Blackwell Yates, will lead a team sponsored by Lund Leather. She will be joined by Ralph Borelli and Tim Miller. Sandy said, “We’ve studied hard, but as anyone knows, there’s an element of luck too. Once again, it can all boil down to the final Jeopardy clue. We’ll see what fate has in store.”

Vying for the top spot will be Mayor Anne Welch’s team. She will be joined by her colleagues, Deputy Mayor Victor Eydt, and village historian Russ Piper. Welch said, “This is one of Lewiston’s great events, filled with twists, turns and surprises. We look forward to another evening of friendly competition. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the fun.”

Long-time businessman Curt Stuart of Stuart Sports will be sponsoring and leading a team composed of Michael Vitch and Amy Salada.  Curt said, “No one can give wrong answers faster than we can, but at least we’ll be wearing clean shirts. Get those buzzers ready!”

Peter Coppins is heading up a new team called “Lewiston Legends” and will be joined by Daniel Gibson and Bill McEvoy.  Peter said, “Our strategy is simple. While the other teams are beating each other up, we’ll be enjoying our beer and pizza.  We’ll come from behind and prevail.”
