1990 Mazda MX-5 Miata - Great mid-life crisis car.
The car is a two seater and comes with a roll bar, stick shift, and convertible top. I bought the car with 150,000 miles on the original engine and it still runs great. The car really hugs the road on the curves and feels like it could handle anything without worrying about it rolling over or tipping.
I was driving on the freeway from Greensboro to Raleigh. There was some traffic and it seemed like I was in for another boring drive. Instead I pulled off the road, put the top down, put on my sunglasses, and took off. The ride was incredible: the warm sun on my head, perfect weather, the wind blowing through my hair. It made the trip feel much shorter and lot more enjoyable.
Most modern cars are filled with electronic everything, and this is where problems generally develop. Since the car is older there are minimal electronics to malfunction, meaning that the car is more reliable than many of the newer models. Overall the car is very sleek and is sure to turn heads for a much lower price than many other cars with a similar body style. The car gets good gas mileage and is one of the few cars today where you can fill the tank for less than twenty dollars.
Since the car is older, the convertible top has had to be replaced. One problem with most aftermarket convertible tops is that they leak a little bit around the seals in the rain. Since both the spare tire and battery are located in the trunk there is not a lot of room for transporting anything more than a small suitcase. The car is very low to the ground and you will not be able to work underneath it without a lift or very tall jack.

I admit, I love my car. It is now old, and showing its age, as it is a 1990 Mazda Miata, blue in color. But to me, even with the two dents and the worn out look, it is my little friend. Sure, the radio no longer works much of the time, but that tiny car often starts, and is paid for, long ago. It is one of the most impractical cars you can buy. It is so small, many larger people can not even fit in it, but I am very short, so it seems just right to me. Good in snow--never, but then again, who wants to drive a convertible in the snow. I admit, my little Miata spend the cold dark days of winter all alone, unused, as it is not good in even a small amount of snow or ice. Buying it used, it was quite affordable, and any car that keeps running years after you have paid it off is a great car indeed. I think as far as repairs, I have probably only had to replace the tiny battery a couple of times, and get the oil changed. It is very responsive to the driver, so while small, it is nimble and easy to control and drive.
Well, it is tiny as can be--and you can only have one other person in the car. It would not work on long trips, or on the freeway. It really is only good in nice weather, The trunk doesn't hold much and it is not easy to put the top on. It is hard to see out the back plastic window.
