Came to Murray Hill thinking we have a nice Korean BBQ lunch. We had planned to go to another restaurant but stumbled into this one and decided it was too crowded inside so I wanted to sit outdoors. At the time no one was sitting outside and the woman staff rudely asked "why do you want to sit outside" and as we were leaving she goes "okay you can sit outside" and says to her friend in Mandarin that "she wants to sit outside because she's pregnant" (in no way do I look it & regardless it was rude). We ended up with a more pleasant waitress and felt pressured to stay which was stupid but we ordered. The food was decent - not great just average. We ordered meat for kbbq classic table top grilling however it came already cooked bc apparently if you order 1 order for kbbq, they won't turn on the table grill for you! Unbelievable experience and won't be going back!

korean lady that speaks chinese and korean the old lady i asked for ice and side dishes that she never gave us party of 4. this place is just to expensive with bad service. the old lady that speaks chinese and korean gave me the worst experience on earth. I will never go back . She will ignore and not respond Please be aware of the fat old lady 55 years old. she sucks. brown eyes. Korean Lady with a Chinese Accent. We ordered a number of dishes but we all walked out very disappointed and dissatisfied. First of all the food was very mediocre. Some of the soup dishes they give you mostly cheap vegetables and almost no protein. Even the scallion pancake with seafood had very little seafood inside. On the big bowls of soup, they are mainly water and basically very little inside. On the 2 beef soups that we ordered, the beef was more reasonable but the soup bases were bland. We have eaten in many Korean restaurants but this may be our most disappointing Korean experience. The worst thing was that the bill came and it wasnt cheap for lesser quality stuff. Unfortunately we felt ripped off. The free tiny dishes were better than the ordered dishes.

food was okay( would rate it 3 stars maybe )yet service is distinctly terrible( not even worth 1 star) the waitress seems soooo racist , described situation to my friends and found out exactly same situation happened to them. Moreover, the waitress were so impatient and little rude to the elder and kid, totally wordless and shocked. I Would definitely "RECOMMEND " this restaurant to all my friends and families : NOT to pick this " Great Service " restaurant

Not your standard Korean BBQ.
If you value quality, authenticity and old school feel in your eating experience; definitely come try Mapo.A block down from HJB, for those that wanted to try something else. Reopening after a break during the pandemic (fire damage), they've picked up where they left off. This is where my parents and their friends all like to come, and the patrons all reflect it. Almost all customers are Koreans of a certain age. Their reputation as the old style place with better banchans than HJB and other similar places is well earned. Latest lunch was 1/2 bbq meat and stew combo for me and rib soup for my companion. Very tasty and generous portions. Get mixed rice instead of white rice, it's more interesting and better for your body.BBQ anything is fine here. Prices may be a bit higher, but its worth it IMHO.
