It took me a while to choose what song I wanted to feature for Flashback Friday, because there are copious songs to choose from. I had to tell myself, “Shae…chill, this isn’t the only Friday in life.” With that being said, I chose “Ex Factor,” from one of the best songstresses in life, Lauryn Hill. (Yes, I said it.)
She is an unequivocally talented lyricist in the music world. (She sang with NAS, so you know it’s real.)
There was no way that I couldn’t feature a track from Ms. Lauryn Hill, as my first Flashback Friday post. I listen to “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” and “Lauryn Hill Unplugged” religiously so it had to be done. (Let’s not even talk about when she was with the FUGEES, because I’ll be here writing for a lifetime.)
I truly appreciate artists that bring substance to their music with their lyrics, Lauryn Hill is one of them.
Thinking about it now, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” which features the song “Ex-factor” was released when I was six, and that whole album still goes. Pure Classic.
It was hard to pick just ONE song to feature for Flashback Friday from her.
I figured if people don’t know any music from Lauryn, (if you don’t, you should be crying in a corner) they”ll for sure know “Ex-Factor.”
