This song was written by Margaret Wells Allison for the Angelic Gospel Singers of Philadelphia, assisted by Harry "Doc" Bagby. It was first recorded on Gotham Records G-675 (1950) as "Glory, Glory to the Newborn King," and published as sheet music by the Andrea Music Company (Philadelphia) the following year, credited to H. Carney, a pseudonym for Harry Bagby, who was an executive at Gotham Records. The song was registered for copyright with the Library of Congress on 28 Nov. 1950 under Harry Bagby's name.
