Is a 2007 honda crv a good car

Honda CR-V (2007 – 2012) At A Glance

Roomy and versatile. Very comfortable, pleasant and relaxing to drive. not at all cumbersome. 2.2 i-CTDI diesel is excellent.

Can be tricky to link a Bluetooth phone to the car's system, 2.0-litre petrol engine seems lacklustre compared to the diesel. 2.2 i-DTEC comes with a diesel particulate filter.

When is a 4x4 not a 4x4? Honda would like you to believe when it's the new CR-V. And it puts up a very convincing argument. The 2007, British-built CR-V 2.2 diesel chucks out 173g/km CO2, which is less than a lot of cars and means you can park it for £130 a year instead of £300 in Richmond council's new residents parking tax scheme. It takes up less road space than the average family estate car, yet it offers more room inside.

It's safer for the occupants in a crash and even protects any pedestrians it may hit. So the mere fact that it offers part-time four-wheel drive to help get you out of a muddy field should not upset Ken Livingstone or Bamber Gascoigne in the slightest. You are definitely not an "idiot" for buying one. You can even have a rear window sticker to try to educate the green-envy brigade telling them "not all 4x4s are the same".

Like the RAV4, which was really the first of this type of vehicle, it's now in its third manifestation. And in fairness to the RAV4, the basic 2.2 litre diesel version of that also emits just 173g/km CO2, so is just as friendly to the planet. The big change with the 2007 CR-V is that Honda has made it more car-like to drive.

Does a Honda CR-V Mk3 have a DPF?

"I have just purchased a Honda CR-V 2.2 diesel Mk3 model AWD. Does this vehicle have a DPF as I do not do much motorway driving? It is a 58 plate."

It won't have a DPF. The Honda CR-V didn't get a DPF until the i-DTEC engine was introduced early in 2010.

Honda C-RV air con intermittent, does it need recharging?

"My wife’s 2008 Honda C-RV has been an excellent car. As you always advise, the air con is kept on all the time. Recently I’ve noticed that when set to “LO”, the air from the vents is cool but not really cold for the first five minutes or so, but then turns cold as it should. Could this indicate the need to recharge the system? I don’t believe it has ever been recharged so 14 years without recharging is pretty impressive."

It's possible there is a refrigerant gas leak somewhere in the system after 14 years. Or it may simply be a dirty air filter or condenser. The fact it operates as it should after a few minutes would suggest it isn't a serious fault, but I'd recommend getting it checked by an independent automotive AC specialist. The fact you keep the AC on all of the time is key to the long life of your car's air conditioning system.

What's the best Honda CR-V for £5000?

"I am looking to buy a Honda C-RV automatic car with a petrol engine for around £5000. What year should I be looking for to be the most reliable?"

With a £5000 budget, you'll be looking at example from around 2008. They're generally reliable cars but not without their issues: //www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/honda/cr-v-2007/good We'd recommend looking for one that's been well maintained with evidence of regular servicing (receipts as well as a stamped service book). They like to rust, too, so check the MoT history for any advisories for corrosion.

Why won't the battery in our Honda CR-V hold a charge?

"My daughter has a 2009 Honda CR-V 2.2 Diesel. Every few weeks the battery goes completely dead and the car has to be jump-started. The local garage cannot find the reason. The battery is only a few months old. I understand this is a common problem. Any ideas? "

Either the battery has been damaged by an incorrect jump start or the car is suffering from parasitic battery drain caused by a circuit that continues to draw a charge long after the car has been switched off. If the car is suffering from parasitic battery drain then it could be any one of a number of things (boot light, radio, interior light etc). Best to have a parasitic leak check carried out by a garage to identify the cause. You can do some basic checks yourself by switching off everything and seeing if the battery holds a charge. You can then switch each circuit day-by-day until you identify the faulty unit. If this doesn't solve the problem then I would suggest seeking a reputable auto electrician.
