Updated October 5, 2022 – Below you’ll find the key information you need as a Costco Anywhere Visa credit card holder to access your account online, make payments, and reach customer service for further assistance. (Note that the Costco Visa credit card is issued by Citibank; you will make payments and receive customer service from Citi.)

WHAT CREDIT CARD CAN I ADD TO MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD? 

Currently, the Digital Membership Card is only compatible with the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi. 

HOW DO I ADD MY CREDIT CARD TO MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD? 

  1. Make sure you're connected to the internet.
  2. Sign in to the mobile app and open your Digital Membership Card.
  3. Select Add Payment.
  4. Enter your Costco Anywhere Visa Card's Expiration Date, CVV and ZIP code.
  5. Tap Save.
    • You may be asked to verify your card by following these steps:
      1. Select a method to receive a verification code, then select Continue.
      2. Enter the verification code that's sent to you, then select Continue.

Your Costco Anywhere Visa Card is now an active payment method in your Digital Membership Card and is ready to be used at Costco registers (excluding the gas station and food court).

CAN I ADD MULTIPLE CREDIT CARDS TO MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD?

Yes! If you have multiple Costco Anywhere Visa Cards, simply tap Add Payment and select each card you wish to add.

If you've added multiple cards, you can select which card you want to be charged at the register by following these steps:

  1. Open your Digital Membership Card and tap Payment Methods.
  2. Tap Set as Default under the card you wish to use.

DO I NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET TO USE MY DIGITAL MEMBERSHIP CARD?

You'll only need to be connected to the internet when adding your Costco Anywhere Visa Card to your Digital Membership Card. You don't need an internet connection to view your Digital Membership Card or use it as payment at the register.

WHAT IF MY CARD IS LOST OR STOLEN?

If your Costco Anywhere Visa Card is lost or stolen, please report it to Citi. They will issue you a new credit card with a new membership number. Once you receive your new credit card in the mail, you can add it to your Digital Membership Card.

WHAT IF MY PHONE IS LOST OR STOLEN?

You will need to transfer your Digital Membership Card to your new phone at the membership counter of your local Costco. Once you do that, you can repeat the steps to add your Costco Anywhere Visa Card.

No. You'll need the credit card's expiration date and CVV in order to add it to the Digital Membership Card.

WHAT IF I RECEIVE AN ERROR MESSAGE?

During the process of adding your Costco Anywhere Visa Card to your Digital Membership Card, you may encounter error messages which are explained below. Please note that if you receive an error message and then choose to select Back to Digital Membership, you will be taken back to the Digital Membership Card screen without your credit card being added to your account. You will then have to start the process again from the beginning.

Verification Code Error Message:
If you enter the verification code too many times you will receive an error message. As a security measure, once you have exceeded the maximum number of attempts, you will have to log out and then back in to try again.
 

CVV Code Error Message:
If you enter the CVV code too many times you will receive an error message. As a security measure, once you have exceeded the maximum number of attempts, you will need to wait 24 hours before trying again.
 

Credit Card Error Information:
If you receive an error message while entering the credit card information, it's possible that you have entered the card information incorrectly. Please verify and enter correct card information. If you still continue to receive the error message, it may be due to one of the following issues:

  • There is an issue with your information on Citi’s side (you will be asked to call the number on the back of your credit card).
  • The CVV or Expiration Date you have entered is incorrect (you will be allowed to enter it again).
