Hourglass veil translucent setting powder before and after

// This post contains affiliate links. You can read my full disclaimer here

I got a travel deluxe version of this powder initially just to see if I liked it. Well, I really enjoyed it, so I took advantage of the last SpaceNK sales event and bought the normal size and I’d save the travel pot for decant.

Hourglass has the best powder products in the market. Always ultra finely milled, very smoothing and blurring any patchy imperfections – you dab a bit and swirl around the area and voila! Setting undereyes concealer is great, doesn’t settle into creases or appear cakey. It’s not very oil controlling though, if you are super oily, I don’t know if this is the one for you (Laura Mercier and Estee Lauder would be a better fit), for me I get a bit of shine over my nose around midday only, I just blot with a tissue and carry on with my day. The result from this and Charlotte Tilbury flawless powder is very comparable.

Packaging

Both travel and normal size have the “H” sifter which help to control how much powder comes out, the full size has a ‘reservoir’ so it fits perfectly for your brush. Now, I wish a pressed version will come out soon as loose powder naturally just not the neatest!

Ingredients

In case this is of your interest…This powder does not contain talc nor corn starch. Talc is debatable as to whether it’s harmful or not but at least we know this powder won’t give off any white chalky appearance or feel. As for cornstarch, that’s used in a couple of well known brands, they can be pore clogging and if you are acne prone, watch out….

What’s your experience with this powder? Do you like it? 💕

Which is better translucent or setting powder?

"It is often translucent and is used to blur pores, soften texture, and even give an overall glow to the skin." Basically, finishing powder is for looks, whereas setting powder helps you get more hours out of your concealer, foundation, and other face makeup.

Does translucent powder go on before or after foundation?

It's best to apply powder after your other beauty products such as concealer and foundation. It works to set the makeup. To apply, dip the brush in the powder and pat it on the side of the container to remove any excess. You can also blow on the brush.

Does hourglass powder cause flashbacks?

Because the Hourglass Cosmetics Veil™ Translucent Setting Powder is formulated without talc, the translucent formula leaves an invisible finish, making it perfect for all skin tones. It is infused with diamond powder for the most refined light refraction without any flashback and sets makeup for longer wear.
