So my family and I are looking for a rental house, but I'm sort of stuck on how to look for one. Craigslist has proven to be full of scammers posting rentals that are not theirs (I do a Google image search on anything that looks promising; they almost always are lifted from an MLS site, and the rent is always way higher than the CL posting claims). I've tried Googling "houses for rent", but most of the houses posted to rental sites are much higher than our budget will allow. I'm aware that we're looking for something that's going to be difficult to find (3 bedroom house for less than $1,000 a month; nothing fancy, but still 3 bedroom). I would just like to know if there is another resource out there that I am missing. Driving around and looking that way isn't really an option, since we don't have a car. Riding my bike around in this heat looking for rent signs is miserable; I did it once. Anyone who has any advice, I'd greatly appreciate it! |

Maybe call a Realtor? |

San Antonio Board of Realtors - SABOR: Property Search Click "find a property". It defaults to searching for a home for sale that is single residential. Use the drop down and choose "residential rental".

I'd call a Realtor. |

Realtor.com is also a good place, even for apartments. |

A lot of the real estate websites are redundant. Most just pull from the San Antonio MLS.

apartment locators, despite the name, can help you find rental houses. when i was searching for the place im at now, they pulled up a few trailors/houses that were in our price range.

How about calling some property management companies? They often know of housing coming on the market, in addition to ones they are actively renting. Realtor.com is a good one, too, though I have found the site is not updated very often.
