It has the feel and texture of your Evian, but actually contains micelles which are essentially tiny balls of surfactants suspended in water. These attract oil and impurities like a magnet, making them an effective form of make-up remover. Backstage pros are never without a hefty bottle of micellar water. Not only is it an easy way to quickly give the skin a quick cleanse (and is arguably more eco-friendly than wipes, provided that you team it with a reusable pad), it also erases any make-up mishaps without leaving behind a greasy residue. According to consultant dermatologist Dr. Alexis Granite, most skin types can tolerate micellar waters. "Those with drier and more sensitive skin may use micellar water (on its own) for a light cleanse, especially in the morning when they are not removing make-up or post-workout," says Dr. Alexis. "Meanwhile, those with oilier skin types will often find they need to follow micellar water with a traditional (gel, milky or foam) cleanser." In the evenings, a double cleanse is still best practice if you're wearing make-up or SPF. Doing your first cleanse with a balm or oil cleanser is all well and good, but if you're blemish-prone or have an oily complexion, a micellar water will do the job without triggering any spots. New-gen micellar waters are also souped-up with good-for-you ingredients such as ceramides and vitamin C.Is micellar water good for acne prone skin?
